Disappointed by Babel - Blu-ray Forum

I was disappointed by the movie BABEL. The acting was bad, the story was off beat, separate storylines didn't seem to interconnect. To top it off, a young mideastern boy watches his sister taking a shower, then he vigorously masterbates. Later, we see a disturbed Japanese teen standing butt naked in front of her father. All of this adds up to one big fat ZERO. I just didn't get the message of this movie -- if there was one at all.

I want a refund.

I think Cate Blanchet is brilliant in anything she does. I definitely didn't love this movie, but I'm glad it was one of my first free 5.

The angle with the Asian girl was nuts.

Definitely worth checking out if you haven't.

There was a fat chick working at Best Buy last weekend and she was sweating profusely. I got a whiff of her B. O. and it smelled like chicken soup. The stench was worse than watching Babel in HD. I would rather sniff Rosie O'Donnell's crotch than to ever watch Babel again.

I've seen it, and I liked the directors previous work in AMORES PERROS, all his films seem to have interconnecting stories but Babel's was kind of hard to find. I think what he was going for was the consequences of people's misunderstanding of each other, Pitt and Blanchett had issues that couldnt get resolved, the Japanese girl was mute and deaf so to get people to understand was sometimes hard, just like in Amores Perros, the dogs were the theme to the movie but it was about people who's identity were linked with those of their dogs, Kinda like Crash but more abstract and multidemensional. So there it is did I do Ok, or are you still confused (LOL)

Thanks for the heads up on what sounds like a terrible film. I usually don't mind seeing sexual display of Breasts, nipples and butt cheeks myself, but it has to at least be presented in context with the story line.

I wasn't that fond of the movie, but to each his own. Some people like to see kids beat off...(God I want to insert a Michael Jackson pic right here.)

I'm way confused that nobody in this thread understood the film.
Babel was one of the best films from two years ago.

I put the latino "trilogy" in this order:

Children of Men
Babel
Pan's Labyrinth

All 3 brilliant.

I'd hate to think that "Babel" is being compared to "Crash (2004)" just because there are multiple characters and storylines.

I believe one of the taglines of "Babel" kind of sums up the movie's meaning... "Pain is universal... But so is hope." It's not that difficult to understand that pain and hope are the main themes of the movie.

"Babel" was the last part of Alejandro González Iñárritu's trilogy of movies about pain and hope... the first two movies being "Amores Perros" and "21 Grams." I urge everyone that enjoyed "Babel" to see those, as well.
