Default Favorite Star Wars Oversight?

The original trilogy has a few little non-sensical quotes and happenings - whats your favorite?

((None from the new ones, Episodes 1-3))

My favorite is:

"umm...Im having a little problem here." - Porkins
"Eject!" - Biggs

Eject? Eject in space? With no suit? WTF?

You know, in all the times I have seen Star Wars, I have NEVER picked up on the absurdity of that.

Well it just might be that were the pilot sat in an X-wing was a Capsule that could seperate keeping the pilot alive that would be the most logical thing

yeah, you gotta figure if he says it and it's a mechanic of the ship, he'd have been protected.

I know one of the X-Wing toys was like that.

However, if you don't think into it too deeply, it's pretty funny.

Something I always struggled with was when the stormtroopers are defending the Death Star in Episode IV, they're outside. The large turrets are OUTSIDE! The uniforms those Stormtroopers are wearing appear no different than what Luke & Han wore, and they easily took their helmets off without "breaking an airtight seal."

I like the massive explosions in space. That and Aiden Christiansen being intimidating.

i'd say the biggest oversight was that all the acting in 2 and 3 wwas complete shit.

People, People...they're just movies...and futuristic movies at that. They can have any suspense of belief in a setting that's not our own. You're supposed to enjoy it and not analyze it.

Biggest problem... the technology gets a lot better as they go BACK IN TIME. Seems Lucas forgot that the movies made later actually occur earlier chronologically.

Other issues:

We've all heard the joke before, but if that were the death star's only vulnerability then couldn't they have just covered the hole?

I have a real issue with all movies and books when it comes to the sheer economics. Whether it's financial constraint or just utilization of resources, no society of creatures could ever agree on a project as massive as the death star... basically a planet as a weapon. Cool idea, but could never happen under any circumstance.

The Force in general. They block lasers because they can sense the future and react ahead of time... but how exactly? If they are using Jedi mind tricks then that's fine against other creatures but it wouldn't work against droids at all. If they really can just see the future regardless then why does the stupid Empire constantly send out laser-based weaponry againt Jedis? It's just dumb. If you have armies that are entirely droids then send in weapons that completely annihilate animals but don't effect droids... it would be entirely different than human-based warfare because they wouldn't have to concern themselves with their own soldiers.

That is actually my biggest issue with the series.

I think the empire has a resource base unlike anything we can imagine. So thats where they get the resources. And they're a dictatorship too. Thats the least of my issues with that series.

I don't think it was so much as "seeing into the future" as a Jedi having heightened reflexes. We also see this in, I believe, episode 1 where Aniken is driving the speeders.

This never bothered me, because it was total and complete control by a single person. If 1 person is making the decisions, and everyone else tows the line then building a weapon the size of a planet it perfectly reasonable given a universe filled with robots, droids, and spaceships the size of Rhode Island.

Oh, another thing that puzzled me, was why on the back of the Storm Trooper costume it said "Oil"

I've heard this theory about the changing technology and I mostly agree: After the empire takes control, they strip away any new technology from anyone's control, leaving them with very little.

The Death Star, I have always assumed has somewhat of an atmospheric shell around it. Even when they disable the shields the shell is still intact. Nonetheless we are meant to suspend belief in movies so it really does not matter.

what about the scene with the stormtrooper costume mess up. you could see that the back of his leg piece was open and could see the extra's pants hangin out

thank god for cg effects, i could not stand the lightsabers in starwars, they look so cheesy. but now they look fantastic

also thought that luke scream ( Noooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) was lame when he fell down the shaft

anyways i am a huge fan, but there are some scenes that are cheesy
