Default Transferring PS3 hard drive files...

I'm upgrading from the 40GB PS3 to the new MGS4 bundle soon, and I"m wondering how to transfer my game files (saves, progress, etc.). Can anyone point me to a tutorial on this or give me the low-down?
Thanks!

Just go back into your account. Everything that you've purchased on PSN is available to you. Actual game saves need to be put on a memory stick and then copied. easy. took me 20 minutes to copy all of my files when I upgraded my HDD to 160GB, and I have everything on my HDD that PSN offers. You need a mem stick for game-saves though.

You can't use that when changing HDDs on PS3. Check my above post. That is the answer. I've done over 10 PS3s. Converted to 160+gb HDDs.

Your best bet would be to use the back-up utility to transfer your complete system from one to the other. If you have 'Rock Band', this is the ONLY WAY TO TRANSFER YOUR CHARACTERS/PROGRESS/SCORES. The download content will have to be re-downloaded, but the scores and characters will still carry over from the back-up even though the download songs will be re-installed after the back-up restore.

Do you have a USB external Hard drive? Its simple go into system settings click on the backup utility and your set. this will backup your entire HDD including game installs, saves ECT then you hit restore utility on the 80GB. I just installed a 160GB HDD on my 60 GB this works really well you just need a USB external Hard drive with at least 60 GB of space left. It wont wipe out anything you had store on your external it creates a folder title PS3. good luck!
