Default Show your dream system!

I just thought it would be cool to see what everyone would buy if they had... say $30,000 to spend on a new home theatre, it can be as wild or as mundane as you want... not sure if there is this kind of thread already... Anyways here's mine

Panasonic 65" 1080P Plasma TH-65PZ750 ($7500)

Onkyo 7.1 Receiver TX-NR905 ($2100)

Panasonic Blu-Ray Player BD-50 ($700)

Klipsch Left and Right Channel Tower Speakers RF-83 ($2400 for both)

Klipch Center Channel RC-64 ($900)

Klipsch Surrounds RS-62 ($1000 for both)

Dual Outlaw Audio Subwoofers LFM-1 EX ($1000)

Extras:

Sony 400 CD Changer MegaStore CDP-CX455 ($275)

Sony 400 DVD Changer DVP-CX995V ($400)

Total Cost:

$17088.75 (including 5% GST)

Total Remaining to buy PS3 games and Blu Rays:

$12911.25

Man there are some Klipch marks on this board. I have nothing against them, I actually have the Quintet II set up in my bedroom, but for a dream system you wouldnt pick something else? Def Techs, B&W, Paradigm? I am no expert, but I would think there are better systems out there under the 30k range...

If you had your mind set on Klipch, wouldnt you pick the THX Ultra2 System? IT seems like the ultimate home theater set up from them IMO...

If I were going for "Dream System" I would start by looking here... They would kind of blow a little more than you 30k budget, but you did say dream! hehehttp://www.wilsonaudio.com/product/alexandria/

true the THX system is very nice... it would be a bit of overkill though for a 65" screen... also i happen to like klipsch a lot and the sound on the 83's is great and they have a timeless style... i can honestly say I would rather have that style of speaker over the link you posted any day on the basis of looks and having experienced them... for all i know those speakers dont sound good to my ear.

By the way, that system that Jeremy displayed does not appear to be his. That system belongs to AVS and Audiogon member "oneobgyn" whose first name is Steve, I believe. oneobgyn is obviously a doctor, and a retired one at that, whereas Jeremy claimed to have cofounded some sort of major web based venture. I don't know if Jeremy is related to oneobgyn, but either way, it does not appear to be his system.

Otherwise, Alexandria X-2's are awesome and certainly fit into the "dream system" category. I would love to use those as mains and then use Watt Puppy 8's for centers/sides/rears. Total overkill for the surrounds, but if you're thinking dream systems, overkill is in order.

Oneobgyn also has a pair of JL Gotham subs and a Sim2 C3X 1080 with an ISCO III, which would also fit into the category of "dream system". For a "dream theater", I would probably go with a bigger screen (14'+) than he has and think about either a Sim2 HT5000 (50k) or a Barco DP2000 (100k or so?).

Maybe, one of these days...
