Default 2007... Year of Blu-ray!!!

2007 is looking good for Blu-ray. We are looking at 48 releases in the span of 6 weeks!!! That is an average of 8 titles per week.

With such strong studio support I don't think Universal will be able to deny that Blu-ray is becoming the dominating format of the HD formats. Every week that Universal delays is a week of lost revenue for Universal studios

There are a few more titles that are being released in those weeks. However, I am trying to spare everyone from this long post.

I am going to be so broke... 24 BD's in 6 weeks.

Can't Wait

I honestly think we'll see the first Universal BD's in time for the next holiday season as well.

If I had to guess, it'll probably be playing catch up with some of the first titles they put out on HD-DVD and moving forward from there.

I just can't see Universal being THAT stupid and not getting on board for Christmas of 07.

I've been saying 6-12 months or so for a while and I think that's when it's going to finally begin and truly start to end MS-DVD.

Well, I promised myself not to double dip previosly owned DVD's, unless there's a substantial improvement.
I also made a promise to stay away from crappy movies, even though it has fantastic PQ.

...but sometimes it's just hard to resist...

The "must buy" titles from me off that list is:

Reservoir Dogs Lionsgate Films Feb 06, 2007 - although "transfer-depending"
American Psycho Lionsgate Films Feb 06, 2007 - although "transfer-depending"
Planet of the Apes 20th Century Fox Feb 13, 2007 - although "transfer-depending"
Marie Antoinette Sony Pictures Feb 13, 2007
The Departed Warner Bros. Feb 13, 2007
The Prestige Disney / Buena Vista Feb 20, 2007
Babel Paramount Pictures Feb 20, 2007
Bullitt Warner Bros. Feb 27, 2007

Depending on how the next few months shake out in regards to title availability, I also think Universal will release on Blu-ray sooner than expected or at least announce titles. If it does happen, probably not before October.
