Default Um ah wide screen again!

Yeh, I was pretty disappointed to see cheap ass wide screen. I figured that the new HDTV were built for the new Blu-ray/HD-DVD, I figured wrong. Why were the new tv's not built to proper specs, some kind of uniformity is needed. Some formatting is ridiculous, you get to the extra space in your perferal, but it is usually of no importance to the movie, meanwhile half the actors head is cut off. This has to be the stupidest. weirdest problem ever. Notice how Blu-ray preview disks at retailers fill the whole screen, they are simply scamers with cheap wide screen. If I wanted a smaller tv I would have bout one!

Did people really skip over DVD from VHS and right to Blu-ray. I really have a hard time taking these posts seriously.

I'm confused, maybe its the EASL... but if you are "cutting" off the heads of actors, you OBVIOUSLY have your settings wrong... if it is a HDTV you are complaining about, what is the resolution? 1080i, 780p? It sounds to me like you have the TV adjusted to where it is doing a wide zoom on an SD signal.

There is definitely something wrong with your set-up. Most people complain about the black bars on the top and bottom, you seem to be complaining about heads cut-off which is a complaint I have not yet heard.

Most people in movies stand vertically man. Thus the bars at the top and bottom could and I have scene them cut the tops of people heads off. Again, due to the directors formatting, I think. Bars on the side, like those created form watching sd on an Hdtv, have nothing to do with the objects at the top and bottom being cut off.

I was referring to the formatting Hollywood directors put on their movies, some of it looks retarded.

What else would anybody think? There are probably a dozen posts here about OAR and those that don't understand it, read up on them and educate yourself.
