Default Extras the TV Series - Question

Hey -- a question for anyone across the pond in Britain or for anyone else that may know the answer...

For the Ricky Gervais series EXTRAS, I know that there are two versions of the Christmas special (one for American audiences to include more American references... and vice versa for Britain)...

My question is, did they do this for the main series as well? Are their differences in seasons 1 & 2... one for Brit audiences and one for American?

Not in England, but this is doubtful, as they still use a lot of English 'slang' throughout the series.

Plus, I never heard about that for the series finale either. You sure that's correct?

Yeah -- not so much the English slang, but the references to celebrities and such.

Sorry Rusty, didn't mean to offend our friends in the North -- is "British Slang" a better term?

I think the Christmas special was the episode most laden with alternate cultural references for the US vs the UK version, but I know that there were a few others dotted around the other episodes. There used to be a video on Youtube highlighting them, but I am buggered if I can find it now.

The most obvious one that springs to mind though, is in the episode with Ronnie Corbett at the BAFTAS. After the credits at the end of the episode the British version returns to Andy and Maggie as they are leaving the ceremony and they witness Moira Stuart being manhandled by the police. She turns to Andy and gives him the slit throat "you're dead" gesture. At the end of the US version this is missing and is replaced by Andy's duet with Chris Martin from "When The Whistle Blows".

I'd buy this show on Blu-ray in a heartbeat.

Thanks for the info! Will import season 2 to go with my region 1 version, being the completest that I am... and that episode does contain one of my favourite lines from the entire series... "I don't believe it... it's only Chris Martin from Coldplay! What are you doing in a factory in Wigan? It's mental..."

By the way, is that Eddie Monsoon as your avatar???
