Default Honneamise animé updates - 'Freedom' and 'Gunbuster vs. Diebuster' set for BD release

At the launch panel for its premium Honneamise label, the North American anime distributor Bandai Entertainment confirmed that in November, it will bring out a four-disc Blu-ray box set of Freedom, priced at US$139.98. The standard DVD will follow in early 2009 in the general Bandai Entertainment line. Also in November, Honneamise will bring out the Blu-ray edition of Gunbuster vs Diebuster Aim for the Top! The GATTAI!! Movie, the theatrical compilation of Gainax's Gunbuster and Gunbuster 2 OAV series.

Side note on Freedom, It will contain the seventh episode which doesn't seem be coming out on HD DVD release, meaning that Volume 6 is the final HD DVD release of the series.

Ex Machina is really good just the cgi animation alone on the blu-ray is enough of a reason to own it

I hate how people dont consider DBZ anime, its because of how wide its fan base is and how successful too. I consider it anime and probably one of the best and intriguing. DBZ IS THE BEST!!!

Evangelion is done by ADV (except for the movies ADV dubbed but Manga released it on dvd)and they are pretty much going where Geneon went which sucks because i want the final volume to Kanon because i love that series but of course it was supposed to come out Tuesday but they pulled it just like last time with that series due to licensing troubles or something like that oh and speaking of Geneon, Funimation is taking at least some of Geneon's releases (or all) so you never know and dont forget Funimation is like really the only anime company besides Honneamise/Bandai Visual that are releasing out blu-rays

Ya, hopefully FuniMation will see the greatness of Blu and put out the goods. Like a ultimate DB/Z/GT collection.

A guy can dream though right?

that would be like buying the Metal Gear Solid 4 80GB PS3 bundle in how much that would cost to have everything from to Dragon Ball to GT plus all of the movies and tv specials i rather just have like the complete Dragon Ball series box set, the complete Dragon Ball Z box set, and so on

Meh, its worth it in my book. DBZ was my first anime (besides Pokemon ) and its better than most of the stuff thats out there right now. So I deffinatly think its worth the price. Trigun, Rouruni Kenshin and Naruto are up there too. (Just look at my name.........and yes, I spelled Sensei wrong on purpose.)

Personally, other than putting more episodes on a Blu-Ray due to its increased storage capacity, I don't see how a show like Dragonball can benefit from any video or audio enhancement and how it will benefit us as anime fans. With movies like Appleseed Ex Machina being done in CG, I can see where that type of anime can benefit from what Blu-Ray has to offer but the Dragonball series? With a majority of the pre-2000 anime that's been released, the only advantage that I see for anime titles is cramming more episodes on Blu-Ray so that sets like the 10+ DVD's for Neon Genesis Evangelion can be put on a lesser number of Blu-Ray discs. Just MHO.

ADV has already done that on dvd and with remastered audio they call it the platinum collection or something like that

It depends how it was stock. Cel was shot directly to FILM, with Film you can rescan. But if they shot to film and then transfered to Video and scrapped the film you're screwed. Because Video was limited to NTSC Resolution.

All new anime series since about 2001 are rendered at 640x480 in computer so you're completly screwed there also. That's why i absolutely hate computer anime.

Most film can be restored because film has a higher resolution than HD

I think Gundam 00 would be a good candidate...
Gundam 0079 unlikely
Gundam Seed -popular enough to be likely
Gundam Seed Destiny - perhaps popular enough to be likely.
Gundam Zeta - I personally would like to see this..
Gundam Double Zeta - Right now there are fights of this one being canon it seems bandai tried to write this series off which saddens me.
Turn A Gundam - We have not even seen a dvd release so probably not..
War in a pocket - I have no idea I would prefer it not be that is the most depressing one it evokes a emotional response.
Gundam X - We have not even seen a dvd release so probably not sniffle..
F91 - Maybe we at least got the dvds...
Char's Counter attack - Maybe we at least got the dvds...
G Gundam - Mortal Kombat.. rofl dunno why not..
Mobile Team - dunno
Stardust - dunno

Personally i would like to see the following..
Macross - Do you remeber Love (movie)
Star Ocean EX (Series)

Macross DYRL will not come out till alll the legal crap sorts out in Japan, nor will any other new Macross series. Could be years

00,Char, F91 are guaranteed to come out here, it's just a question of when
Stardust Memory is just 0083 movie version

Zeta Gundam is about to come out on Blu in Japan, but probably never coming here. It sold terribly on DVD (I picked up the huge $200 collector's box for $40 brand new at a liquidator, and they had a LOT of them). 0079 equally unlikely.

Since most Gundam fans despise ZZ, I seriously doubt it'll ever come out here
Turn-A, V and X will probably stay buried in Japan, and G is unlikely to make the transition either. Gundam Wing is the only one that has a shot at a Blu release in the states.
