Default Question regarding audio over HDMI from PS3

I watched Hairspray on BD last night, but without the surround sound. I didn't hear any dialog until I told the PS3 that the (TV) would only accept 2 channel audio, but I had no idea what khz was the maximum, and as a lot of you would know, there are numerous boxes to uncheck and recheck... is there an easier way of swapping from 7.1 sound, to 5.1 and 2.0 and knowing the maximum khz to allow every time you plug it in to something new?

if u swapped it over to the TV for this (didnt plug into your surround) then go to HDMI->Automatic under sound settings and that should do it.

Just done that... I guess you need to do that every time you plug it in to a new thing, if you want the best results? It was much better than doing it manually though!

yup... only takes a few seconds.... another option could be to run an optical cable to your TV (if it has the input) and leave the HDMI running to the surround... then just switch between optical and HDMI for audio, that way you dont have to unplug anything

let the PS3 "automatically" set for you...it should be able to tell what your device is capable of.
