Totally from space.

Cool things - if you pause the parts where the camcorder switches from whats happening to the coney island parts. you can see the classic monsters. king kong, the beast from 50,000 fathams, THEM!. Its really cool.

If someone could post screenshots for this, that would be cool because I've never heard of this before and I've read a lot on this movie and I'm sure it would've been pretty talked about. Not that I don't believe it, but I don't see how it would make any sense to throw them in there. Sure it'd be a cool easter egg but something like that and especially that many monsters I think would be too noticeable.

I did notice the DHARMA (Pearl station) logo during the opening video feed, that ruled.

Spoilers aplenty:

Did you guys watch the movie again in the special features? I forget what it is called (not Clovervision!) but a lot of backstory is provided. Anyway, I thought the beastie was awoken from beneath the sea by the Japanese miners, no? They were mining the bottom of the ocean for the slushie drink ingredient, which took food away from the parasites. The parasites had to go elsewhere for food, and started nipping away at Bertha - which awoke the monstrosity to wreak havoc on New York. As for the thingy falling from the sky at the end of the flick, that was a Japanese satellite. Why it crashed into the ocean when it did, and what connection it has with anything, I don't know...

Check my above posts for the info on the satellite but yes that is the basic gist of what was going on.

It's NOT from space.... just thought you might want to know. I was one of those obsessed with the viral campaign.

If you hate this movie - please, don't be a THREAD-CRAPPER and come in here. We do not care about how much you hated it and/or its camera movements, creatures, acting, etc.

Take it somewhere else, to people who care. We don't.

=================

And personally, such a creature? I don't want to think space - mutations! Radioactive material on a creature, lol, is what I want to think. Biologocial weapon gone astray, perhaps?? Although it certainly does look like the creatures from Resistance, which end up coming from outer space - hmmm. I like how it does leave it up to the viewer to determine its origins - and not say in the movie itself. That was a particular part I liked.

From space into water

I thought that thing that falls from the sky into the sea at the very end was supposed to be the creature

it is the creature all right, but wasn't it awoken by the explosion from that ship earlier in the movie.... or was it an earthquake?!!!
