Only one I'm looking forward to is MK vs. DC. It's the first fighting game I've had any interest in since . . . Mortal Kombat III, I think. Been awhile

A New Next Gen Marvel vs Capcom maybe coming soon??

videogaming 247 blog

IGN article:
Quote:
While this is in no way direct confirmation that a new Marvel vs. Capcom game is in the works, Kevin Feige, President of Production at Marvel Studios did give fans a ray of hope to cling to before an official announcement is made. When asked if a new Marvel vs. Capcom game is possible someday Feige said, "Yes. And maybe sooner than you think."

Are there any fighting game fans out there still?? - I used to be a huge fighting fan, not so much anymore. Virtua Fighter 5 was the first PS3 game I got and barely used it. Thats when I realized that I dont really car for the genre anymore.

Are Fighting Games still revalent?- Not really. They arent as big as they used to be

Which are you looking forward to? Probably Street Fighter IV

Which will you get? Definetly Soul Calibur IV

Which is the Best?- Cant say since I havent played any of the 2008 fighters

Virtua Fighter 5 basically killed the series of Virtua Fighter and of course it happens to be like the 1st fighting game or one of the first fighting games on PS3. and its not because of that game on why people dont care about the genre its just that Sega just gave us a crappy game and made it a little better on the 360 and have no plans to fix the PS3 version to be better or at least similar to the 360 version which totally blows and also the reason why fighting games and rpgs are not as popular anymore is because its like almost every game is a shooter no matter if you have a 360 or PS3 its all just Call of Duty, Battlefield Bad Company, GTA, and so on and so on.

Yeah!.....I blame the MS/xbox/halo generation! lol

It also effects the other genres to a point where they are told,"if it don't sell as many copies as halo you are a FAILURE!"...which is lame!

I never remembered sales being a measure of success until MS/Halo showed up! ....I still enjoyed Shadow of the Colossus even though it didnt sell huge!

Moonphase, I'm just curious, but why do you think Virtua Fighter 5 basically killed off the franchise? I've been playing Virtua Fighter from the start, and I thought VF5 was an excellent follow up to VF4: Evolution.

I don't mean to disagree or argue with you at all. You seem to know and enjoy your fighters, so I was interested on your take on it. Was it the controls or enemy AI? I don't think it was all due to lack of online play, since the series never had it before. Was it the feeble attempt at play-by-play announcers? That made me cringe.

I used to love playing fighting games in the arcades!....I remember when someone would watch you for a bit and then ask to join in!

Going head to head with someone was much more personal and much more respectful, sometimes you'd get props or sometimes the person would go away pissed cuz he lost! lol

sigh...those were the good old days

For me, it all started with Street Fighter II on SNES at the age of 14. That game was what hooked me on gaming (officially) and, in my humble opinion, set the foundation for all fighting games since. Can't wait for Street Fighter IV, it looks great. All the other fighting games, with limited exception, sort of bore me. Although, MK vs. DC could be cool. We'll see...

I tried SF IV at my local arcade, one of the only 2 in California to have it, and man it rocks. It's like taking the best of Capcom vs. SNK 2 and SF III and combining them. The movements have that momentum feel to them from SF III.
