Great game, but still can't live upto what 2k5 did for the Football gaming

What exactly is so good about 2K5?

And Madden 09 is a great game, I wish I knew how to get rid of that STUPID 'repeat' thing though

2k5 was the best footbal game ever made. TV like presentation gameply animations, crowd and replay system, Sportscenter half time show, game highlights in season mode etc....

I'm not complaining I am just saying with all the hype around Madden 09 that it would make 2k5 (a 4 year old game) seem like a joke.

Overall this is the best madden of the current console generation

You can turn off the rewind stuff at the screen where you select your teams. Just set it to zero. Overall I love Madden 09. 2k5 had great presentation, but honestly Madden 05 had waaaay better gameplay.

Madden 94 was the best. I think that might have been my first football game, so I have the fondest memories of it.

My second favorite is definitely 2k5 though. I'm not exactly sure how it happened, but I had both Madden 05 and NFL 2k5 that year. Is that when Sega was selling all their games for $20? Maybe that's how it happened.

I'm still disappointed in the current-gen Madden games. I remember being amazed at the jump from PS1 Madden to PS2 Madden. For whatever reason, the current gen Maddens don't seem like much of an improvement.

The ONLY reason I buy Madden every year is because I have no other choice when it comes to an NFL game with current rosters. Otherwise, it's the same tired gameplay every year, with the same exact flaws. For once, I wish they would fix the problems the game already has rather than add useless features that suck (like the MySkills setting - a pre-schooler could come up with a better "testing" system... when you're rushing in an actual game, you have multiple defenders coming at you all at once and there are no button prompts.)

Agree this game is MUCH improved from last year and definitely worth buying. If you don't like the repeat thing just press X at the end of the play and skip through it. I agree it's stupid though.

Does the new Madden still have that horrific "car radio" announcer? That alone (okay, the exclusivity crap too) turned me off to the series and I haven't played it since. If you've got Madden, Micheals, and the ESPN license, how about actually USING them!

I far preferred the NFL2K games. They felt to me like they played better and the players looked far more realistic than the more "cartoony" Madden players.

I enjoyed NFL2k5 also, but I'm over it. I'm really digging the new Madden.
