Default Poltergeist Remake

Ok, this is getting ridiculous. I swear almost every single movie in history is going to have a remake before long.

Quote:
To heck with the "Poltergeist" Curse, MGM has hired a pair of writers to tackle its planned remake of the supernatural classic.

According to the industry trade papers, MGM has attached Juliet Snowden and Stiles White to the new "Poltergeist." The two writers have some experience with things that go bump in the night, having previously written the horror hit "Boogeyman."

The 1982 original was a blockbuster for MGM/UA. Directed by Tobe Hooper with a rumored assist from producer/co-writer Steven Spielberg, "Poltergeist" told the story of a family that moves into their dream suburban neighborhood only to find that their house is occupied by a pesky, frequently malevolent spirit.

The film spawned two theatrical sequels, but also reputation for a curse, after four cast members died in the six years between the release of the first film and the release of the third, including young stars Dominique Dunne and Heather O'Rourke.

Snowden and White are probably unconcerned. Their upcoming writing credits include the Nic Cage thriller "Knowing." They also took a stab at Universal's remake of "The Birds."

I think Hollywood needs to take some good acid to get creative again ! And perhaps smoke some of that legal weed the have out in CA as well ! It SURE wouldn't hurt.

Pretty much.

Pitchman: "We have a great new idea .... "
Studio: "STOP, we can't get it funded with the current credit crunch"

Especially if it's MGM/UA.
(Now owned by Sony, that studio of rampant inferiority complexes, in that they don't seem to own any 80's-boomer pop franchises of their own--unlike Warner with the toons and heroes, and Disney with all those princesses--
Until one day, a magically bankrupt 80's studio, in need of exploiting their intellectual property names, suddenly fell into their lap...)

It'll free up so much of your posting time here, people, to ask yourself one simple question:
- Robocop
- Red Dawn
- Child's Play
- WarGames
- Pink Panther
- Amityville Horror
- Poltergeist

...WHAT DO THESE MOVIES HAVE IN FREAKIN' COMMON???

Eventually it seems that every horror movie ever made will get a remake. Hollywood seems to have become creatively bankrupt.

I love how sometimes they refer to these remakes as "re-imaginings"

remakes should be about improvments....but when u cant improve a movie like Poltergeist, then dont remake it. Or Childs Play....

Remake movies that suffered from bad direction and bad writing....good ideas can go arye based on execution

Remake Polutergeist 3, Childs Play 3.....because these actually sucked balls...

The remake will have a hard time beating the soundtrack of the original, you know the music you hear during the end credits. I like that music

what was wrong with childs play 3? if they need to remake any it should be the last two. what a disgrace. those writers of bride and seed should be shot.
