Default Scariest Thing That Has Happened To YOU

List your scary stories. Something that has happened to you personally. It does not necessarily have to be a ghost story.

getting treated for Schizophrenia the doctor was'nt 100% sure i had it or not so i had to take meds for it for a few months before i could see a shrink those months were pretty scary due to the meds i would sleep from 10am to 1-2pm all i wanted to do was lie in bed i felt numb all the time and was thinking about sucide since all i would do is lie in bed and want to sleep.

but once i got to see a shrink he started to treat me for a anxiety disorder which had similar syptoms (spelling) as Schizophrenia and i was able to stop taking the meds and now im alot better.

Could be worse, your daughter could come home one day and tell you that she's dating someone who owns a 360 and thinks it's the bees knees like someone a couple posts above me hating on PS3 fans.

Air Force Basic Military Training. The physical stuff wasn't so bad because they build us up to the standards. The detailing of the dorm to be PERFECT everytime was demanding, but 2nd nature once we got our act together.

The mental, emotional and near constant study was draining. Mostly due to very long days and lack of sleep. Plus I became very sick in the last 3 weeks and recovery was slow due to lack of rest.

It was a scary thing to think you could do your very best, try your hardest and still fail. Don't know how the other military branches do it. They are even tougher.

Tech school in 2000 was scary due to the sheer volume of information which had to be learned. Was the equivilent of TWO full time college students crammed into a 5 month course. Never studied so hard in my entire life. But I graduated with honors.

3 sinus surgeries was a cake walk compared to those events.

I grew up in Pennsylvania outside of Philly. My parents had a 3 story Victorian house built in 1891. I know there’s a lot of debate about ghosts & belief in them, and I am the type to always try and seek a “logical conclusion” to any mystery, but some of the things that happened in that house defy conventional explanation.

There were numerous times when I was home alone when I would hear someone calling my name. Not a faint whisper, but an actual voice.

Another time when I was home alone and in the first floor laundry room, I heard what sounded like furniture being moved around in the room above me. The room was my fathers study, and he never moved any of the furniture. When I went up to investigate, his type writer stand and large easy chair had been moved.

My mother was eclectic in her home décor. She had three small brass engraved pieces hanging on the wall in a line top to bottom, each one suspended by a single nail at the top-center. I had some friends over, and we were all hanging around in the living room when one of them said “look at that!” We all turned to see one of these pieces swinging back & fourth, to the full apex of the swing. It wasn’t until one of us went over and physically stopped it that it stopped swinging.

My oldest sister was in bed one night getting ready to go to sleep. She was upset about something that happened earlier that day, and was crying. She said our mother came into her room, sat at the edge of her bed, and placed her hand on my sister, and listened to her as she told about her problems. The next day, my sister thanked our mother for listening, only to have my mother tell her she never went into her room that night. Neither did anyone else in the family.

I had been relating these stories to friends of mine, and one of them was a bit skeptical, so he decided to try & test the ghost. There was a room in the front of the house we used as a TV room. He went in, and said out loud that he was putting his pack of cigarettes on the end table, to see if they would still be there later. We both left the room, and closed the door behind us. Again, we were the only two people in the house. When we returned about a half hour later, his cigarettes had disappeared. We searched the room, and found them across the room, under the couch, standing up on end.

I was dating a girl no one in my family liked. One night we were in the kitchen talking with my two sisters when we heard a noise. Someone asked ”what was that”, and my girlfriend (who didn’t believe in such things) loudly proclaimed “It must be the ghost!” and proceeded to jump on the floor in an attempt to squash the spirit. As she did, a large plastic cup flew off of the counter, hitting her in the head. She was freaked. I thought that perhaps she had toppled the cup when she jumped on the floor, so I put it back where it had been, and tried jumping in the same spot. I’m a big guy, and she was very petite – I outweighed her by at least 80 pounds. All my jumping produced no results.
She wasn’t too keen on coming over to my house after that.

I almost got hit by a train walking down the train tracks.

My two brithers and I were walking down the track like we always did as kids. There was a creek that we would always walk to. It easier on you feet to walk in the middle on the railroad ties instead of the rocks on the side. Well we were walking one day and I thought I herd railraod crossing alarms about a mile away behind us. I turned to see if a train was coming and there was and it was about a telephone pole distance away and hauling ass. I yelled train and we had enough time to dive out of they way and it was by us. I and another brother went one way. We weren't sure if Eric had made it out of the way until the traind had passes. We though he had gotten hit for about 5 minutes while the train was going by. It sucked. We were pretty scared.

Dear god that is horrid.

Think for me it would have to be the time I was home alone late and night and thinking that someone was breaking into house (no one was a stupid shower caddy had fallen in the tub very hard) I dont think I have ever felt so helpless, breathless and scared This also might have been worse since I came home from a Graveyard shift to find my house robbed and all of my dvd stolen, so naturally fear of home invasion is a big one for me.

When I was a wee lad - I found this cool thing in my moms bedroom that vibrated. I used to massage myself with it until mom saw me using it on my back one day. Whoooops

My wife and I were living in the Bay Area in 1989 when the Loma Prieta quake hit on October 17. Seventeen seconds of 7.1! Longest 17 seconds of my life. It was just a month before we got married. The best way I can describe what followed the quake is that it seemed like society was falling apart. No electricity, no water, no phones, and a sundown curfew. It was scary. It was also my wife's first earthquake and I thought she was going to go back to Texas the next day. I still have strong emotions about what happened that afternoon, not all of them pleasant.
