STORY

Driven by envy and hatred, Ahriman spread Darkness in the world, corrupting the hearts of men and unleashing a dark substance which physically contaminates the land and the skies: the Corruption. When Ormazd finally acted to stop his brother, he chose to destroy Ahriman's servants, the Corrupted, one by one. When at last only a few of Ahriman's puppets remained, Ormazd captured them and pulled them into the Tree of Life. With the remaining Corrupted sealed inside the tree, Ahriman found himself tethered to the trap unable to break his connection with his dark servants. Concentrating all his power, Ormazd forced what remained of his brother into the Tree, locking Ahriman inside for all eternity. Ormazd gave care of the Tree of Life to his chosen few, the Ahuras. Now, many years after the war, Ahriman is plotting a way to escape..

Transported to a land of myth and legend, the Prince finds himself caught up in an epic battle between the primal forces of light and darkness: the God of Light, Ormazd versus his brother Ahriman, the God of Darkness. Our Hero arrives just in time to witness the destruction of the legendary Tree of Life – an act which threatens to plunge the entire world into eternal darkness.

The trailers looked pretty sweet, and the combo attacks with the woman looke incredible. I am very interested to see how that works.

Although the cartoony look/shell shading type looks cool, I woulda loved to see Prince of Persia in 'regular' graphics.

Well, we got 3 Prince of Persia games with "regular" graphics on the PS2. Wasn't that enough?

not really no . not for me. i'm with him saying that i was expecting next gen graphics for the prince. I'm not saying i don't like the art style but it's not what i was expecting for prince of persia

+1, this is a big dissapointment for me... im hesitant on this game. The first prince of persia for ps2 was great, but the rest i thought were horrible. Im curious which one this will be like... Anyone know?

I don't know for sure, but I'm with you. Hopefully, this game will take it's cues from Sands of Time and put more of an emphasis on the puzzle-solving and story than the bad-a$$ery. It already looks like there's enough bada$$ to go around. Personally, I lost interest with the 2nd and 3rd PS2 entries, what with the rock soundtrack and dark tone and all that crap. Just give us a smart and challenging game.

Regardless, the game looks sensational. I can't wait to try it out.

Just got my LE from Gamestop. They barely got any in. I think the guy told me they had 3 and he took 2 of them, so I got the only one in the drawer. All of them were PS3 and no 360 versions came in. I was like huh? Im sure alot of people that preordered are going to be pissed off.

Im kind of disappointed with this so called LE. The packaging is some cheap cardboard box that holds the regular game case. I dont know, I guess I was expecting something like the MGS4 LE set. Interestnig that the game case doesnt have a Not for Resale tag on the back like most other sets. As far as the soundtrack goes, its not even on a CD. Its a blu-ray so I can only use it on my PS3. Hope someone is able to rip it bc I like the theme that was in the E3 trailer. Its in a small plain white cardboard insert. The content is HD, so Im glad about that. I wonder what they did with the 360 version since it has no BR.

About to play the game now. Will post thoughts later

Wow, this looks amazing. I love the visual style and the combo attacks. I never played the last PoP, but I loved Sands of Time. This looks like one to keep an eye on.

Slightly off-topic, but how did folks like the last PoP game? Is it worth picking up on the cheap now?

POP3 is quite good. Its sadly not quite as good as the first one but it does have some nice elements to it. One thing that is quite cool in POP3 is that you turn to the dark side temporarily until you reach water. However, the hard part is that you have to keep topping up your energy (making kills) as it drains on a timer whilst you are in dark mode. In some places it gets ridiculous as you have a maze of platforming elements whilst your in dark mode. Bosses are hard as well, one towards the end takes the michael with two axe wielding bastards can kill you with one swipe and your surrounded by a ring of fire so you can't go anywhere. I'd give it an 8/10.

So I was wondering if anyone else tried to pick up the new Prince of Persia today only to get shafted and told it won't be out until tomorrow. Usually, the people at Gamestop just lie to me (or really don't know what they're doing) and I can find it at Best Buy by asking someone to go into the back room. Today, however, it was nowhere to be found.

It sucks when shipping dates aren't exact release dates.

Eh, the whole teusday/wednesday thing disappointed me a while back. Now, I just expect them to come on Wednesday. And if something happens to hit on a Teusday? I just consider it a nice bonus.

Apparently there are 4 costumes each for Elika and the Prince. The regular ones, the preorder ones (classic Prince and Farah), Altair and Jade, and there is one more slot on each one that says "locked". I wonder what the extra costume for each will be.
