Default 52" and its viewing distance, help.

I have a problem. I bought a Samsung 650A 52", the big mess is that I dunno If I had space enough.. I can only sit 9 feets away from the screen, maybe that is good when watching blu-ray movies, but what about games? Can I get blind or get sick for playing xbox 360 or ps3 on 52" from 9 feet away?

Any of you play games on a big screen?

A general rule of thumb is that the distance between the viewer and the screen should be between 1.5 and 2.5 times the diagonal size of the screen. So, if your couch is between 5 and 9 feet from the TV, you probably want about a 42-inch screen. If you’re sitting 8 to 13 feet away, a 62-inch screen would be optimal.

and no....I play on a 40in 2 feet away

I've got a 52" Bravia - no problems with movies or games anywhere from 6-10 feet (2-3 meters)

I believe you are just one foot less than the minimum recommended viewing distance for a 52-inch screen. I routinely watch BDs between 8 and 10 feet depending on where I sit in my viewing area. I doubt you will go blind or get sick playing video games at 9-feet from the screen. Think about it this way, most of us sit around a foot or two away from our computer monitor - and some monitors are quite large (like the Apple 30-inch LCD computer screen).

Enjoy.

Wow, I think I am the only one who sits 15 feet away. Got 52" sammy, and I like to stay on bed. =P Though whenever I watch a new kick ass action film, I make that 6-8 feet.

Blu lover, 52" and 7' is fine if you adjust your TV proper.

For example, watching Pirates or Casino Royale on the last rows that are shown on this pic of this screen ^^
is equivalent to watching them on your 52" at 3' and I don't think nobody on those rows died
and actually may have had a splendid time

On this note: I'm getting a new screen in March next year but I'm scouting now. Wall mounted, I think I can have it 9 ft. from the sofa. How big can I go?

When I first bought my 50" I thought that my viewing distance of 7 feet would be too close , but now my screen is starting to look small , so your 52" at 7 feet is OK to me
