Default Problem With 'die Another Day' Playback

I dont understand this. I have a Sony BDP s300 btw. I put in die another day and it says 'Loading' After that the screen just goes black and nothing happenes. I waited and waited, nothing happened. I took the disc out and tried it again. This time it goes to the menu, and the menu plays, but i cant select any of the options on the menu. I know it wasnt my remote or player, because i tested out my other blurays i own and no problems. I have heard there have been problems with the bond films on blu ray so far....

Could be a firmware issue or the disc might be defective. Are you running version 4.20?

I've got a PS3, no problems, but obviously that's not a huge help. Have you tried the usual things, like updating your firmware?

Give your system a cold boot. I had the same problem with Dr. No. After I reset the player (unplug it from the wall), it worked just fine.

I have 3.95v

im trying to update it, but whenever i burn the firmware to a disc, i pop the disc into my player and the player reads "Can't play disc"

can someone give me a link to download the proper firmware? because the one off of the sony website must be defected. Once i download the file, the bitez size doesnt match up to the one given on the website.

thanks

I have the Sony BDP-S300 with version 4.20 firmware and Thunderball plays fine. I downloaded the firmware from Blu-ray.com at the top of the page. There are several players' firmware for downloading.

to me "Die another day" works perfect in my samsung 1400 ) but i find "For your eyes only " won't work so i know its not the firmware when one movie works and the other won't

the machine says disc can not be displayed and it ejects so I exchanged it twice and asked if the store would try it on their sony 350 player and it worked

die another day -----plays
live and let die ------plays
for your eyes only----can not

This is a known issue with the new Bond discs and the BDP-S300. I'm sure an update is forthcoming, but you have every right to feel exasperated.

I was having this problem 2 years ago with the Samsung BD-P1000. It wouldn't play The Descent or LXG. I went out and bought a PS3....and haven't had a single problem since. That's all well and good for myself, but if the BDA expects BDs to become mainstream, they'd better clear this type of garbage up!

They need one standard that every player lives up to and that every disc falls in. Theoretically, ever since BD-J was finalized we should already have that, but increasingly it doesn't apear to be the case.

Default From DVDtalk.com

Compatibility Warning: I've read several complaints about this first wave of Bond Blu-ray discs not playing on a number of different set-top Blu-ray decks. I can confirm that on my copy of PowerDVD 7, Thunderball would load a black, blank screen and stop, and it sounds like several dedicated players from a couple of different manufacturers are suffering from the same problem. Readers not using a PlayStation 3 as a Blu-ray player are warned that they may need to do a firmware update and may not be able to play these discs at all.

Same here. The other 5 played just fine on my Samsung 1400 except FYEO. I figured it was a bad disc and exchanged it today - have not tried it yet. If it is indeed a firmware problem hopefully a fix is out soon.

Default Bond Blu-rays won't play!

I just received all six reissues from Amazon and the only titles that will play are Live And Let Die and From Russia With Love. Two of them never make it to the menu and the other two get stuck after pushing "Initiate Mission". I checked and my Sony BDP-S1 is up to date with 4.10 firmware. Any suggestions?

well if all your other titles in your collection work it must be that your player isnt compatible with these new mgm releases as i cant see 4 titles being faulty.Ive found someone having a similar problem

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=68316

sounds like it could be an issue with sony players

It looks like Sony will need to issue another FW upgrade for your player.
