Default Finally Buying!!!

Okay... I am going to buy a surround sound setup with my new bonus I just got

I just need a lil help... It is for a bedroom to go along with the setup in my sig.

I plan on spending ~$600USD... please advise... Thank You, Peter!

*Edit* I would rather pick it up at B&M, but have no problems buying online either... so long as it's a reliable source.

P-Ter,

I, along with most of the others here, would recommend taking it slow and getting quality rather than an HTIB for example. I was once in your shoes and I know you'll hate to hear that, but in the end you'll be happier for it. Trust me. If you can, try and determine what you could eventually spend on surround sound. Say that number is around $2000, then you can do a little research and get your speakers piecewise which will take longer, but you will get a much higher quality speaker. That's my advice, if you simply can't wait and you need 5.1 surround NOW, a sentiment I sympathize with, then I'd go http://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-Quinte...5231182&sr=1-5

Jaydoc is prolly right about buying in stages, but you could get some decent gear if you want to do it all at once, but better if you stage it out.

This would be my suggestion for a $600 budget
Sony 820 $296 ugotadeal.com
sony ss-cn5000 $64 ugotadeal.com
sony ss-f5000 $99 ugotadeal.com
sony sa-w3000 $115 ugotadeal.com
sony ss-b1000 $59 amazon.com

total $633 plus you will have to pay S&H, Tax and you will need speaker wire & subwoofer cable. Go to Monoprice for wires and cables. I have this set up and its nice much better then getting an HTiB.

DO NOT DO SPEAKER PACKAGES!

Are refurbs ok or do you have to have everything new? I ask because an Onkyo refurb 605 and polk monitor 50 fronts refurbs will get you in the ballpark like driver_king suggests. I am not sure new ones will meet your budget.

They are totally right in suggesting buying in pieces at A time ! In the long run you will be happier !! And you won't have to do it again for A long time !!
