I was just looking around at the reviews on amazon about the panny bd55, I checked the price and it was 344 with free shipping, I went back an hour later and checked again and the price had dropped to 318 with $19 shipping. This is the lowest pricing I have found on this unit.

I read the article in this weeks Home Theater Mag and it claims that it can output not only PCM from the analog outs, but TrueHD and DTS MA aswell. I thought you HAD to have an HDMI cable. If the article is true, I'll have to suggest it to my dad because his Denon 2805 doesn't have HDMI in.

Well I just ordered mine from Amazon, I went with the 318 plus 19 for shipping, so total only cost me 337 and no tax. Sweet, I was going to wait but for the deal like that I had to pull the trigger.

Congrats!!!!! Any idea of whether it will output TrueHD and DTS MA out of the analogs?

The article you read was correct. Both the Panny 55 and the Sony 550 have onboard decoding of TrueHD and DTS HD-MA onboard with output via the analog outputs. These new players are great for those with legacy equipment, like your dad, who aren't interested in upgrading their old equipment yet.
