Default Watched DVD at my folks house.

I saw Iron Man, Hulk, Funny Games, and Strangers this weekend when I went and saw my folks.

DVD is HORRRIBLE. I wanted to poke my eyes out. Upscaled DVD is acceptable to me (if it is not on BD yet), but damn. Normal DVD is garbage.

LOL, we tried to watch an upconvert dvd the other day and couldn't get past the first 10 minutes, mostly because of the sound... Blu-ray really does spoil you.

Oh boy, i love blu-ray! I just hate how there are a lot of Bollywood movies that aren't on blu-ray so since i watch A LOT of them the upscale feature is passable, but not crystal clear.

I watched X-Men on VHS last year... GOD! I can't believe we used to accept that. The image was dark and blury, nothing was smooth. I remember when DVD first came out and everyone was in awe of the clarity. I wonde if in a decade or so, we'll look at Blu-ray as we look at these formats of the past.

my parents have seen plenty of my movies on Blu, but they still say, what's the big deal, so I tried to show them a comparison, My father said, well it looks a little better, but not worth the upgrade.

Some people will just never be convinced, until they can't buy SD DVD anymore.

I give up.

Well I guess it's time for you to get your parent some equipment upgrade then. How about it?

You need to find a movie that he really LOVES on BD and show him the difference between the two formats. That will reconnect him with what he originally saw in the theaters - if he saw it there to begin with.

I can stand to watch standard dvd if I don't really find a movie "blu-ray worthy". Meaning if it's not a movie I am willing to buy I will rent it on dvd.

I have found that , even if it is a great movie, if it isnt upconverted, the poor PQ can take me out of the movie. All the digital hiccups and macroblocking frustrate me to death.....just yanks me right out of the story.

I have absolutely no problem watching dvd's on my 60" HDTV. There are a few bad transfers that don't look great but most look quite good for 480p. Blu-ray looks better but not everything is on blu yet. There are a lot of movies that I like to watch that may never be on blu-ray, won't stop me from watching the dvd's.

Not to pick on you, but I've always thought it to be hilarious whenever someone says how large their television is. lol I'm just saying that people don't always have to put in the size all the time.... what is wrong with saying "I have absolutely no probelm watching dvd's on my HDTV"? I don't put in my television's size unless I'm asking for technical help.

I took a chance and watched Disc 1 in my coveted LOTR Extended collection and I couldn't concentrate because I was thinking "this would look and sound great on BD." It really could use an upgrade because it just wasn't as sharp as the movies I am used to watching now.

I just hope I never ride in a Ferrari or Lamborghini!

DVD looks a lot better on my 21" SDTV. It just looks blurry on my HDTV unless I upscale it, in which case it looks a lot better but still not "good enough."
