Default What Do You Think the Hold Up is in Releasing These Titles?

Star Wars Trilogies
Lord of the Rings Trilogy
Indiana Jones Trilogy
Jurassic Park Trilogy
Alien Quadrilogy

I don't get it. I mean these films have been released:

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
Blade Runner
Close Encounters of the Third Kind
Harry Potter
Pirates of the Caribbean

So why not the others? Are the studios waiting for BD to be more mainstream?

Your thoughts?

my guess is that the director's of those movies may want to have a nice boxset and it can also be that the director of those movies just doesnt want them on blu-ray just yet

Harry Potter, KOTCS and Pirates are recent movies that are "living" franchises still.

As for Blade Runner and CEOT3K, both I believe had DVD editions coming out last year and if the studio is going to release a new DVD package, a lot of times they'll say lets release it on blu-ray.

Lucas obviously has an issue with releasing classic IJ and SW this early in the format's life. However, has no problem putting newly released additions KOTCS and Clone Wars on blu.

LOTR is next year and Alien is rumored to be coming out soon.

Don't know what to say about JP.

Harry Potter was already on its 5th movie when it was ready for a Blu-ray release so WB released a boxset plus the individuals. Indiana Jones was released because it came out same day as dvd but you can tell that there is going to be a boxset somewhere down the road in probably next year
