Ok, so excuse my ignorance in the subject.
I'm looking to build a home theater setup starting with a couple of klipsch rf-62's. However because i have never build one before i do not know what kind of receiver will do the job, for that matter i dont know much about them. Generally speaking i like my sound and play almost exclusively flac (lossless) music, and as such will be playing flac music through this system. Because i work at a electronics store i get this sort of stuff cheaper and will be paying ~200 for each rf-62. Here's the receivers i have calculated i can afford right now and beside them is the corresponding price and you guys tell me which ones will do and which won't. I would like to only spend what i have to (enough so i dont loss any quality) Denon AVR-589 $ 260 Denon DRA-37 $ 227 Sony STRDE197 $ 130 Sony STRDG520 $160 Yamaha RX397B $240 Yamaha 6130B $195 Also what do you guys think of the Polk Audio AM1055-A 10" Subwoofer? when i first wanted to purchase my receiver, people told me that onkyo wasn't so good at playing music, and recommended me the Yamaha 1800, so in your case, i would go with the Yamaha because they have a good reputation with music playback; good luck.

variables
1. speakers 2. reciever/amp in most cases youd have different results from the interaction you would have from your current speaker choice (RB62s) and the receivers in question. you have to consider listening to each of em if you'd want the best out of your system, catering to what sonic qualities YOU like. some say the denons are a tad warm, and some love it that way. in the same way yammies are preferred to for 2 channels and as well as listening to music. its a matter of taste actually. but id go with these two as my priority. good luck on the hunt |

Yamaha are bright sounding for music and probably would not work well with a bright speaker like klipsch.

Im taking a liking to a Harmon Kardon receiver I've stumbled upon (avr146) however it says it is only 40watts stereo and 30 surround. Are watts important? How good is this receiver and will it power the rf-62's well? Possibly even expanding into surround speakers later from the same line?
