Default gblaue's home theater!

I know some of you are die hard plasma, lcd, and projector fans , but I hope there are still some RPTV fans out there. I think/hope you'll see why! Take a look!

I gotta say, my favorite parts..... The hand-rail going down to the theater (can you take a closer picture of it?) and the carpet..... that is PERFECT carpet for a theater room......

Nice work!

How many DVDs do you have? I saw you mentioned moving them to the attic, so I figured you had a bunch!

I've got probably about 800+ dvds. I'll shoot a close up of the hand rail. It's 1 3/4 brass pole. It's starting to tarnish. I need to polish it up. You should seen the look on the UPS drivers face when he dropped that off. He asked if it was going in the bedroom. I chose everything in the room myself. My wife hod no input, except for the carpet. I was going for a dark grey or black, and she said no you got to get this. Of course it goes from $25/yard to $45/yard, but hell it's only money!

Love the room. I've been debating going with a black ceiling and trim for a while, your room may have finally sold me on it. Also nice job on your BD rack. Time for an addition though.

It really helps the room get dark. I use halogen flood lamps on dimmers overhead while watching movies and they are barely noticeable, because its so dark. Still, they provide subtle lighting just like in a movie theater. I'll try taking a picture. I suck with a camera, but I'll try.

all my tv's r RPTV's and i love them. a lot of peeps don't like them cause u can't hang them on the wall or the picture. but for me i don't like LCD or Plasma they make sooo much heat even walking pass them u can feel the intense heat. don't get me wrong i like them to but i like my RPTV better.

I put up a picture of a section of it. It's the only way to get a good close up.

I'm contemplating an upgrade for the room. Help me choose. Take a look at my gallery.... At the bottom of the stairs, where the Indiana Jone poster is. I am thinking of building an "old time" ticket booth into the wall with the shade drawn saying "sold out" or a concession stand. Or should I just leave it alone?

Nice setup! However, try moving your sub between your TV and right tower and spreading your towers out a little more (not in the corners though). Test it out and see if it makes any difference. Personally, I find the more spread out the towers are the more dynamic the sound and I heard subs can get boomy when placed in corners (I experienced this on two occasions). You should get some nice sound stage out of that room. Also, maybe try angling your center speaker downwards a little so your couch can get the sweet spot instead of the spot above your listening area. Over-all, very nice though! I love the theatrical feel.

My first time giving audio advice. How did I do.

Hi blushiz,

Not bad advice for a first attempt, but for this particular setup this is very well optimized. The Mirage OM-5 speakers are an Omni-polar design. In this setup, they are placed equi-distant from the adjacent wall. They rely on the reflection off the wall behind and adjacent. You are correct about the sub getting "boomy" when they are placed in corners. Fortunately, with the Denon AVR-4308ci, it has the Audessy EQ capability and I have purchased the dynamic EQ upgrade,as well. This does provide very accurate bass repsonse in the room. Not to mention, the OM-5s sound wonderful all the way down to 22hz.
