About to get my First stand alone player, Question!

Well my ps3 just died and with the dark night releasing next week Im thinking of purchasing a stand alone until my ps3 gets back from sony..I'm thinking about the sony s350..Is this player any good? Will it play all my blu's after I install all the updates?

just curious. How did your ps3 die? Was it because you were folding to much? Did you always leave it on? Anything in particular?

Yes, the S350 is a great player. The only drawback is the current lack of internal decoding for DTS-HD MA. I think a future firmware update will fix this though. Personally, I recommend the Panasonic BD35 for roughly the same price, if not cheaper.

Been wondering, and it seems like as good a place to ask as any. Have they released the update for the S350 that takes it from "BD Live ready" to actually being BD Live compliant?

I was playing Resistance 2 Online when it just shut off and I got the red blinking light. Then when I turned it back on i got the yellow blinking light and the red blinking light I usually don't leave it on for long without me playing. I think it died because I have the original 60GB and i use it alot.
