Exclamation Blu to show my 95 year old Grandpa

Hey all!

In a few weeks my grandpa is coming over to watch a blu for the first time. He is really fascinated by audio and picture improvements.

He is 95 years old and I was just wondering some recommendations on films that would be nice for him to watch. He currently owns on DVD only two movies Aviator and Pearl Harbor.

Anyways... I was wondering what you would recommend to watch? I think something with story that he can enjoy but something that shows off the capabilities of blu well too.

I am thinking of getting Band of Brothers on BLU then giving him it on DVD(own it already) but not sure if it is worth the $80 CDN for a double dip.

The other one I was thinking was Master and Commander as he loves boats. He is a fan of airplanes, war and boats. LOL

Thanks!

Thanks guys.

I was thinking Baraka too but it bored me when I watched it so long ago.

Sci-fi is a no go as he really can't follow the story.

His eye-sight is fine and his hearing is ok...

Keep them coming guys!

Why not Shawshank, since you walked into your local store and purchased it there on the day of release?

If he's anything like what I plan on being like when (if) I'm 95, I'd say "Pirates"

I'd say Master and Commander is a good choice, but I'd probably go with Patton, Cool Hand Luke, A Bridge too Far, Battle of the Bulge, The Getaway, Bullitt, or Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid......

All movies he'd probably get into, and all good PQ in my book (audio is as good as it's going to get for some of these too)

Master and Commander or any of the POTC movies.
Pearl Harbor...notice no u. planes, war, and boats, too bad about the acting
Black Hawk Down has some excellent audio and the pq is very good for an early release.
Iron Man - Planes, war, don't know about boats.

Excellent recommendation Owa. I'd say go with a little Planet Earth and then the best blu ray of all time - Band of Brothers to top things off. All 1:78 aspect ratios to fill the screen for the gent.
