Default Your Favourite SLEEPER for Blu-ray...

We all have a few lesser known movies we have enjoyed that may or may not be headed for blu-ray any time soon. Which one(s) would you like to see headed for Blu?

1. The Forgotten One.
2. The Changling. (George C. Scott)
3. Island of Terror. (Peter Cushing)
4. The Petrified Forrest. (Humphry Bogart)
5. Rebecca.
6. The 1940s Universal Sherlock Holmes Movies. (Basil Rathbone)
7. The Uninvited. (Ray Milland)
8. The Frozen Dead.

And I would take your number 2, The Changeling with George C Scott. Very creepy movie.

Not sure if these are sleepers, or cult faves, or just genuinely overlooked films. But the top 5 I'd love to see that on BD that I probably won't for some time:

1. Star 80 (Bob Fosse, 1983) The DVD was horrible pan and scan. I would love to see a quality release of this, one of the most disturbing and brilliant films I've ever seen. The tragedy of murdered Playboy playmate Dorothy Stratten.

2. Bad Lieutenant (Abel Ferrara, 1993) Since KING OF NEW YORK has been released on BD, I'm guessing this even more popular film from Ferrara will eventually see the light of day. The dark images intense close-ups would benefit from a hi-def transfer. Too bad the music rights issue prevents the schooly D stuff from appearing. Will always hang on to my LD for that.

3. Cool World (Ralph Bakshi, 1992) The DVD transfer is actually brilliant, so I can only imagine how good this could look and sound on BD. Panned by critics, I love this explosion of color and crazy cartoon antics. Give me all Bakshi's stuff on BD!!

4. The Stepfather (Joseph Ruben, 1987) As far as I know, this hasn't made it to legit DVD yet. Not sure what the reasons are, but I would love to see Jill Schoelen in Hi-Def. Great little horror comedy.

5. Bank Robber (Nick Mead, 1993) Troubled NC-17 comedy thriller that seems to have been all but forgotten. Patrick Dempsey is the unlikely star. Another film that I don't think ever made it to DVD. Would love to experience it again on BD.

I'd choose:
5. Rebecca. Where are all the Hitchcock films on Blu-ray?
7. The Uninvited. (Ray Milland) This hasn't even been released on DVD. It's a great atmospheric ghost story and would make a good double bill with Rebecca, which is almost a ghost story.

I would guess my choices would be different from the ones already posted, but would like Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man and throw in a little Stone Cold and I would be happy.

How bout some Chuck Norris to honor JasonR who had to close like 20 of the "Yahoo's worst product of the year" threads. Some of my favs from Norris are not the best known.

1. A Force of One.
2. Silent Rage.
3. Forced Vengeance (probably my fav after Return of the Dragons, which dosen't quailify because it is well known).
4. Bringing Up Baby (Cary Grant)
5. Il Mostro (Begnini).
6. Yor Hunter Form the Future (don't think it even made it to DVD).
7. The Barbarians.
8. Better of Dead.
9. Arsenic and Old Lace
10. My Name is Bruce.

Maybe not a sleeper as it got a lot of critical praise but would not be Universal's first choice for Blu Ray. But Mulholland Dr. would be my choice.

The univited IS on DVD. I have a copy. Check Amazon maybe. You are right about Rebecca. A nice mystery movie.

1. "Cat People" and "Curse of the cat people", plus the rest of the Val Lewton classics.

2. Mullholand Falls.

I'd love see I AM SAM on Blu-ray and more specifically for the soundtrack portion!

And The Killing Fields would be amazing as well.

I know these aren't lesser known movies, but I really would like both to get the Blu-ray treatment.

I'd love to have Enchanted April on BD. It's such a wonderful film. I have it on VHS and it never ceases to bring me pleasure. I'm sure it would be stunning on BD.
