Default HDMI Signal: Normal or Expanded ?

Hi all, I’ve got a question about this option on various pieces of kit (Blu-ray, projector, Xbox 360), if I select expanded it seems to give a brighter picture and which is a little washed out, is this correct ? what is the benefit of this option ?

There is an article in Audioholics website which explains very clearly how to determine the correct setting of HDMI black level (Normal vs. Extended).

Yeah, don't use it unless your projector supports it. I believe that Deep Color is the same thing. It's an expanded color space that makes TV's/PJ's that don't support it just look stretched a little too thin.
