connecting laptop to Samsung LN40A550 1080P

Can someone tell me how to connect my Dell Inspiron 700m laptop to a
Samsung LN40A550 1080P lcd tv?

I dont have the tv yet and all it says is it has a "pc connection". Is anyone familiar with the connection on this tv and what type it is?

Also I have a VGA port on the laptop but no HDMI....
do I need some type of adapter or just a cable?
What kind of cable would it be?

Not very technical so any help would be appreciated!!

The "PC Connection" on the A550 should be a VGA port, at least that's what it is on my A650, and I can't imagine what else it could be. So that VGA out on your laptop will connect to the A550 just like if you were connecting your laptop to an external PC monitor.

I have the 550, and it does have a VGA port. You need a male to male VGA cable w/ sound if you want sound:
