I use my ps3 as my blu-ray player and I can only get 720p but does surround sound make a diffrence in blu-ray's where I would notice and this would be the system I use.

it goes without saying that getting surround sound would make a HUGE difference in your blu ray experience. After all, Sound is 50% of the movie watching experience. However i would steer clear of HTIB (home theater In A Box) and would opt for some separates. What kind of budget do you have to play with?

Right now nothing but we already have this system which we got a few years ago and I was wondering if I should buy an optical cable for it since right now I only have the prestige and indy 4 but hopefully on the 25th I add x-files and mummy 3.

![]() Yes, buy an optical cable. You should be able to hook it up to your single optical in on the right hand side. |

YES!
Surround almost makes more difference than the video (in my opinion). Very important -- and blu-ray sound is wayyyy better than DVD. The best option is called lossless. That would mean using your PS3 to output to a receiver that has an HDMI input and can accept (at minimum) PCM (even better is one that takes PCM/Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HDMA). But even an older receiver will sound better since most Blu-ray's are either 640 kbps or 1.5 mbps (DTS core track). Most DVD's are like 440 kbps - much more compressed. The long and short of it is YES - Blu-ray sound is awesome! |
