adcom preamp - Blu-ray Forum

Hello guys I have a question to ask. My cousin gave me an adcom preamp. However, I don't know nothing about amplifiers for home entertainment. I never own one. Do I need to buy an actual amplifier to use the pre amp? Is adcom a good brand? I don't want to go out and spend more money for another machine.

I can not comment specifically regarding your Pre amp. Adcom is normally considered a good midfi maker of audio components. Not including Televisions and monitiors, as a reference, Sony, Onkyo, Denon, Marantz, Pioneer as examples are normally considered to be low to midfi makers of audio equipment. Though Marantz and Denon (and possibly the Pioneer elite and upper Sony and possibly upper Onkyo) also do offer components that are most definetly midfi and even delve into the range of hi-end equipment.
