Blood Diamond is not a good disc to see the difference that a Blu-ray 1080P quality can bring. Blood Diamond DVD and Blu-ray just has a lot of grain in the picture, and does not look very impressive. Probably one of the worst movies to watch in Blu-ray along with Predator, The Italian Job, and Sleepy Hollow. Try The Dark Knight, Iron Man, The Incredible HulK, Wall*E, ect and you will see how good Blu-ray quality is.

Does your screen support 1080p? If not you are missing part of the advantage of Blu-ray.

appreciate the replies ,11:30 at night so i tried to cut corners....everything's calibrated,LCD is 1080 i/p,2 hmdi imputs and cable ,covered all the bases.

What was odd about blood diamond Blu-Ray that I notice some of the terrain shots it felt I was watching Sunrise earth .most of the movie shots did have that grainy look.the Simpsons movie [DVD] on the other hand look a lot better running on my blu ray .

just curious though does bit rate matter and is there a specific forum to just review picture quality

On the top right of the screen you should see a text bar and a Search button. Type the name of the movie in and you should get a Blu-ray.com review.
