Anybody use some type of hide away method for their projecter? My wife will not let me start going this route if it is just going to be out in the open 24/7! I read about a Mantis box?!?! Thanks for the input!

I seen one mounted in a wall, I think it was on AVS....

main thing is ventilation

you have a link to the Mantis box???

Is this a house (& do you own it) & what is above the room.. attic or 2nd story ... if attic does it get 'super' hot in there... thinking you could install a mortized lift mount too rais/lower it & then in the attic build a houseing unit to protect it from dust & major temp changes when not used.

And all that may end up costing more than the projector itself.

Here is the link to the mantis box-- I can't see the pictures from my work computer so don't know what it looks like.

It is a house that I own and above the room is the Master bedroom. I live in AZ so temps outside are hot but we keep the house cool. In the wall I don't know if it would work as it would be going at the back end of the room which will face the sun in the morning.

looks good... one thing is where the projector you get pushs out the hot air if on the side you would have to open that up, but I think most pust out the back side.. just make sure the projector gets good air flow for cool & hot air

Don't think a ceiling mount would work for my room. I have a ceiling fan with light kit and the pulls that hang down so those would block the projection.

Think I will need to go with a cabinet behind the couch and do a custom pop up. Looks like I need to get some plans drawn up and do some research!

I think it's time to tell your wife that you wear the pants in the family and you are the decision maker on this one.

if you got LCD it's easy to put them also anywhere. You can put it on a shelf. Most projector depth are between 11 and 13 inch

Does the projector have to be in a straight line to the screen or can it be offset and angled to the screen? Thanks.

depends on the projector... some have lens adjustment internally

From my understanding I would be looking for an LCD projector to give the most leeway in diagnol placement?
