Default Anyone see this? 80GB PS3 pic

I wonder if its real.

Rumor: PS3 80GB Already In The Wild

Is the 80 GB version of the PLAYSTATION 3 coming sooner than previously thought? It's possible.
We first broke news of the "elite" version of the PS3 nearly a month ago, based on a filing with the Federal Communications Commission and a tip from a reader, the first indication a new version was on the way.

Adding more fuel to the fire was Sony Computer Entertainment America's decision to phase out the 20GB model and Sony spokesperson Satoshi Fukuoka confirming that the company was looking at larger hard disks.

Then this shot, of which we are rightly suspicious but believe to be (gulp!) real, shows up in my mailbox showing a new model number (98004) and a larger hard drive spec (80 gigabytes/80 gigaoctets). According to the box, virtually nothing has changed save the HDD, and based on the dual-language descriptors, it looks to be a Canadian model.

Based on the quality of the shots and the lack of official confirmation from Sony, we're still calling this rumor for now. Michael McWhertor

I personally don't feel like I was robbed from not waiting. I think they could have went larger. Then again Laptop Hard Drives can be a bit expensive. Alongs Sony doesn't add new features like the competetion, I'm cool with it.

80GB will not be happening. I don't think SONY is THAT stupid. I mean, it's only 20GB more than their current model; and not really even close to XBox's 120GB.

This is not a big deal. Sony could have discontinued the 60GB version and is now planning on shipping a 80GB version which is exactly the same as the 60GB version accept for a larger hard drive. Prices on hard drives keep falling and Sony as time goes on might every 6 months to a year include a larger hard drive in the PS3. If Sony can purchase a 80GB hard drive for the same price or cheaper then the 60GB then by all means place a 80GB hard drive in the PS3 and sale it for $599. Maybe in October the PS3 will fall to $499 for the holiday season if the demand starts to slow a little.
** Where did the picture come from? Is the Picture real or a phone picture? **

I would love to see an Elite version of the PS3 for $799 that had a 250GB hard drive and 1080P/24 output when watching movies.

P.S.

It’s not a big deal if Sony every 6 moths to a year places a larger hard drive in the PS3. Anyone that owns a PS3 machine can always upgrade their hard drive. Over the years the PS3 machine will have improvements. Thanks to new models and improvements in technology things keep improving. If videogame systems did not keep improving over the years then people would still be using the Playstation one and first Xbox machine. People should be happy to see Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony come out with new and improved videogame systems. One can always sale their old videogame system or place it in a second room and purchase a new system if they feel they absolutely have to own a new model XBOX or Playstation system.

Isn't it already a fact that the ps3 is going to have a major upgrade?... maybe not major but switching from the 90nm chipset to the 65nm.
and I agree on many people switching their hard drives, btw anyone who had the 60gb hard drive and switched it... pm me, I might want the 60gb

** The following is rumors only and not based on facts **

If this rumored 80GB PS3 is real Sony most likely will discontinue SKU number 98000 (60GB version) after stores start getting low on inventory.
The rumored 80GB PS3 is suppose to have a SKU number of 98004. Here is a link with possible other changes. Also the PS one and PS2 hardware emulation chip is being removed according to rumors. Software emulation will be used to keep prices low. If these rumors are true then most likely the 98000 PS3 will be out of production soon and in October the 80GB PS3 with more integrated circuits and less components will be selling for $499.

It looks fake, I just tried to make one that looked like that with Photoshop and it looked real.

I think your point there is slightly confusing but to me it seems your almost justifying M$ in their change of hardware for the xbox 360 in their "Elite" or in fact you could simply be saying it's good to see sony increasing their HDD space that comes as standard and making minor changes such as bluetooth functionality and switching to smaller CPUs to reduce heat and also make a slimmer model in the future.

My personal feeling is that sony will continue to increase it's HDD size over the years but only so as to allow consumers the benefit of being able to store more stuff over the years without having to add another HDD.
