Thumbs up Brand New With A Few ?'s???

Hello,
I been scanning this forum for a long time now & learned alot....my roomates & i recently built a house & before becoming a fireman i was an electrician....so i got to wire our house & customize it with lights & sound haha anyways in our living room we have a custom built entertainment center built out of wood & we drywalled it so it matches the walls.......we have a 47" LCD mounted & all the componets in a designated place underneath the tv......the way it was framed i had to run the wires before the drywall. Back in the day (1 year ago) i was told all i needed was Componet cables no HDMI.......so i ran 2 sets of componet cables. Now owning a Blu Ray i realize i wish i would of ran HDMI....so i have a few questions.

1. I have to open up the drywall to run more wires.......should i run HDMI cables?

2. How do i have game systems hooked up to the TV so i can have sound from TV but when need play sound through stereo?

3. I have 5.1 stereo with 2 sets of in cieling speakers & 1 in wall center channel. My sub is directly side by side to all my equipment....is it bad to have my sub there? Should i run my sub somewhere else?

4. I was thinking about upgrading to 7.1 & was planning on putting 2 in wall speakers in.......is it worth it to upgrade?

5. we have Phoenix Gold in-cieling speakers wich sound great & a yamaha Center wich sounds great.......i was thinking of ordering the Monoprice.com in wall speakers if i decided to go 7.1. Has anyone used/heard them?

i know it would be easier to see with pics so i will post soon. But for knowledge i have a 7.1 yamaha reciever.........thanks again!!!!!!!

I would say that it would be a good idea to run some HDMI cables either for current or future use. I would go through monoprice.com to purchase them as they are much less expensive and will provide you with the same performance as those more expensive cables. What model Yamaha? Does it accept HDMI? Your receiver will determine how you hook up for the best sound and picture. Also what model TV do you have? I have 7.2 system and I can hear a difference. Blu-Ray has more and more 7.1 soundtracks so it would be nice to get the extra channels.

ya i was thinking about opening up & running some flex for future use....my tv is a 46" phillips LCD 1080p i dont know the model number but my yamaha reciever is....htr-5960......it does not have hdmi inputs only componets.......i dont use it for my video though.....im running the componets directly to my cable box & using the rca jacks as audio out to my reciever......the same with my dvd player........heres what im gonna do.....

Open up the drywall & run 2 hdmi cables along with some yellow, white, red cables with an extra piece of flex probobly 3/4 or 1"......i will be taking out my single gang box that holds my coax tv cables (2 in & 1 out) i will add a 4 gang remodel box....(1) decora plate with 2 hdmi's http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...q=1&format=2(2) decora componet plates with audio http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...q=1&format=2(1) 6 hole keystone jack http://www.thenerds.net/CHANNEL_VISI...18979599-2vfor yellow http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2, white http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2, red http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...eq=1&format=2& 3 cable outlets "2 in & 1 out" .http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...&format=2....i also have a 2 gang with my speaker wires....i will get (1) 5 speaker decora plate for my fronts, rears & center http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...rmat=2....plus another decora audio plate for my outside speakers http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...rmat=2....then i was thinking about adding 1 single gang recessed bulk wire wall plates http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...=1&format=2for my "future flex" what do you think?? alot of holes or what? lol
