Default F.E.A.R on PS3 vs 360

Hi. i was wondering if anyone has compared the game FEAR on both or these formats. considering they both released on the same day. has anyone come across any news articles that are neutral. since thee are so many fan boys out there its hard to get an accurate review from people.

Um, I don't know where you heard that, but the 360 version of F.E.A.R has been out for a long time already. From what I've heard,(IGN, Gamespot) the PS3 version is a poor port, with frame rate issues and overall less impressive visuals. Its sad to still see these kinds of things happen, but if you got both a ps3 and 360, I'd get the 360 version of F.E.A.R. Note that I didn't personally care for the game - played it on the PC when it first came out and thought it sucked. I dunno, I'm tired of fps games, and if I wanted to play a game with ghosts, I'd play any game in the Fatal Frame series instead.

yeah i played the demo for the 360 i really didn't like the game either.. i just thought it could have been the 360. FPS aren't my cup of tea either but once i played FOM i was hooked, even though i keep getting swamped in the online game play.

I've only played the PC and 360 demos so far but "inefficient graphics engine, bland environments" sprang to mind. Max Payne 2 with many similar gameplay locations looks better to my eyes and it came years before F.E.A.R.

Don't pay any money for this game.

Just get the free download version of it for the PC (Fear Combat).

No need to invest any money for retail/purchase versions of it anyway.

Im not down with ports, they just seem to always be an issue on ps3. I'll stick to original titles only, or same day releases that review well.

I've got it on PS3, Graphics can be glitchy but gameplay is fun and smooth.
Decenet story, and attention to detail.

i have it for the pc! and love it, but personally i think u need a good pc to see great graphics. Im running the dual 8800 gtx. But online play is way different then actually story line play IMO. Save your money on the ps3 verison.

I have played and beaten FEAR on the 360. I recently bought the PS3 version this week and have put in about 5+ hours into it.

When compared to the 360 version I did not notice much of a difference on the visuals. This may be biased since I have the 360 hooked up to a 32'HD CRT TV and my PS3 is hooked up to a 40' HD LCD. I think the LCD makes the PS3 version look a little better but not much.

The Sound on the PS3 version is alot better. It is easier to hear the enemies foot steps as they approach and listening to the phone messages you find through out the game is alot clearer. There are some sound affects that appear to be missing. In the 360 version, any time you get close to a bucket or trash can it makes an insane amount of noise. I have not noticed this sound affect at all in the PS3 version. It almost seems like they forgot to add the sound affect.

They PS3 game does have some glitches. It is easy to get stuck on corners of walls. I also had an issue where I threw a grenade as the game saved a checkpoint. The game froze for a split second and as i tried to kill the enemy soldiers they would not die. I unloaded a full clip into one and he just kept coming. I paused the game and restarted from the check point and everything was back to normal. Another issue is the sensitivity of the controller. The crosshair when in slow motion is very sensitive i have tweaked the sensitivity option some but it can be frustrating when trying to attack multiple targets.

One feature that i do not miss on any of the other games for PS3 but really missed on FEAR is the rumble feature. This game has tons of explosion and a level where you are in a crumbling building. Not having that rumble as the building shakes and suff falls from the ceilings really took some of the affect away.

Overall i think the game is still good. The 360 version does seem better but that should be expected on any game that came out for the 360 first.
