Default F.E.A.R. 2 Demo

so this maybe a little sensitive of a subject to make a thread about (thanks to a previous poster), but there will be no comparisons made here, promise

i just got done playing the demo and wanted to know what others thought. they did a pretty good job IMO. there were a few parts in the demo where i yelled out loud, like
[Show spoiler] when the freaky chick grabs your throat in the movie theater
. hopefully there will be some controls modifications available, cause i hate shooting with R2 and zooming in with L2. other than that for a demo it did a pretty good job.

i didn't play the first game, but i think ill give the 2nd one a rent. should be a pretty good game!

That sounds pretty cool, I was wondering how this game was going to be. How were the slow-mo parts?

Never played FEAR before. What is the premise of the game?

In a nut shell you are a member of a special forces team called F.irst E.ncounter A.ssualt R.econ you have super quick reflexes which is basically the slomo feature. There is a strange being that has psychic powers that you are trying to stop. I dont want to say too much and give anything away.
Even though the port over to the PS3 was rushed I highly suggest you Rent it or buy if it is at a bargain. The first game was alot of fun and scary too. I think i may play it again tonight

um it was ok. nothing new really. the one part where it was really nice is they had this ghost thing that would move really really fast, and if you used the slow mo you had a much better chance at hitting it. i could see them doing some sweet things like this which would ramp up the fun of using slow mo.

Two negatives that will probably keep me from purchasing it. The POV is too zoomed in for my taste (seems like a source game in that regard) and the head bob. I could probably get by with the zoomed in POV but if the head bob can't be disabled, I won't get the game. Normally, on a PC, either one is is a no-go for me since sitting so close to the screen makes things worse but on the consoles, being further back isn't quite as bad. The combination of both was too much for me though.

The bullets look real cool, blood splatters in slow motion and it makes that kill just that more satisifying explosions are extremlly cool in slow moe...

Um its actually hard for me to explain there seems to be 2 factions im not sure what each is getting at but your part of some elite commando team..

The part that seperates this game is the fact there is a third faction and that is the spirits of very pissed off people.. you deal with ghosts, spirits that open up doorways to hell etc etc.. some really scary stuff.

I thought the first FEAR was pretty good. If this demo impresses me, I may pick it up, but it's not in the plans for now.

I just want to know that they did the 2nd FEAR game justice on the PS3. The first one was awful, but only on the PS3.

Really enjoyed it on PC though.

At first I thought this game was some kind of survival horror game but based on the videos I have seen it feels more like a war/shooting game. So I am not so interested. Though I could try the demo why not.

I enjoyed the demo, but the framerate drops when you press for some reason.

Kidding.

Its somewhere between the two mediums.. the ghost and the spirits very much belong in the survival horror genera..

Yeah try the demo, to see if the blend works for you.,..

i did not like the zoomed point of view either. i felt like i had no peripheral vision. and, the resolution seems to be lacking. the game appears very muddy like in GTA IV and Haze. as if i am looking through foggy goggles. i wonder if it is not actually 1280x720, but rathered upconverted from 1024x567 like those other games. the level of detail in the school and the boiler rooms was rather impressive, and there were some nice textures...but it was hard to focus on them. maybe the framerate is sub 30 frames/sec? also, the sound went dead after that railway car fell. that has never happened in a game before.

I'll have to try this demo. I was looking forward to FEAR 2 but I just bought FEAR and it was absolutely horrible. I've never struggled to hit the enemy as much as I did in FEAR. The gun sight moves too quickly. For some reason I just really struggled to shoot effectively. Also, the graphics look last gen. It didn't compare to the Resistance games.

I tried playing last night but the light flickering was giving me a headache. I'll have to give it another go sometime later.

The first fear game was a rush port for the ps3.. a launch title that was rushed for launch it was a very very very bad port.. and I wish you would have said something before you bought it so we could have warned you.

It was based on a much older pc game.. and probably did not need to be released... I don't know who was responsible for porting it, but it seems monolition knows what there doing with this one.
