I will try and post some pics I think people will get a kick out of. Just wondering if you consider Blu and Home theater a Toy?

I, too, get a rush when I know I am expecting a package. I think thats the only reason why I order... just so I know something good is coming to me and I have something to look forward to. My blu-ray collection is my pride and joy right now, next to what is coming home next (my TH50PZ85u).

To me, blu-ray is a timeless collection and a hobby. It would be the beginning of True HIGH DEF. Although it's a expensive hobby, I consider it as investment also where I can always dig up old stuff to enjoy memories.

It's an expensive and addictive hobby, but there are a lot of movie fans out there. Unless you happened to go and see all your favorite movies in the theater, this is the best presentation of them that you will have seen to date.

They have excellent resale value if you later change your mind. Blu-ray has made many casual viewers of movies into real fans.

One of the things I like about it is not "showing off my toys" but getting to watch a movie I love through someone else's eyes. Knowing that you introduced a friend to a great movie is almost as rewarding as seeing it for the first time yourself.

I prefer to put my spare $$ into my Scanner hobby.

I feel I accomplish more in that area than I do just buying a movie I may only watch one or twice. So I just rent my blus. I do buy the must haves tho.

The hobby aspect is satisfied by the hours of spare time spent calibrating the display, moving your sub(s), etc.

To answer the OP's question. No!

The winner is She Who Dies With The Most Fabric (or Shoes) depending on what game She is playing.

Ever check the order tracking on your orders? Pretty neat to see when it left the warehouse, all the checkpoints in and out, when it gets to your town. Pretty cool stuff!

Sure it's a toy.

It's a really expensive toy, and I intend to treat it much more delicately than I treated the toys I had as a child, but make no mistakes about it, for me, it's a toy.

To me, buying Blu-rays is a total waste of money. Lets say you pay an average of 20.00 a disk and you own 200. Obviously you spent 4000.00. How many times will you watch those movies compared how many times you will stare at your collection. To me they only do me any good wen they are in the player. Or you can spend 4000.00 and watch 800 movies once by renting. And BTW nothing lasts forever and there WILL be a new medium eventually. And you WILL have to unload your whole collection

I have never unload any collection I have ,I still my entire Dreamcast collection of games at least 125 ,2 units and acessories ,my dvds are packed away as well as vhs tapes ,my original xbox, playstation 2 and games I liked .
To me renting is a waist of money when you can wait and buy the movie used for an extra 5-10 dollars (average rental price 5.00) and then have something to show. Any true hobbiest will defend his hoppy , why because it makes him happy and to me that is money well spent. As far as the new medium goes,BIG DEAL,By that time I will prably have over a thousand movies, will I look at all the money I could have had,NO , I will look at all the fun I had with my hobby. And that is what is most impotant GOOD MEMORIES!

I agree with some other comments and refer to it as a hobby over a toy. I love collecting blus and building my collection. It is pretty much what I spend most of my cash and I feel proud that I have gotten a decent collection. Movies are my passion and what better way is there to experience them by using the wonderful power of blu-ray
