Default Overscan-Disabling TVs

I'm the kind of person who is REALLY bugged by overscan - I wanna be seeing the WHOLE image. It doesn't help that my current set has more overscan on some sides than others, so it's always a bit off-center...

I know some TVs have "1:1 Pixel Mapping" options and the like, and I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations, or maybe even if a pro calibration could fix the current display's overscan?

Thanks in advance.

I'm no fan of overscan myself.
My Samsung has a JUST SCAN setting which shows it all.
I use it all the time for both HDTV and BD, works great!

I agree... overscan suck! I wanna see everything

What I'm wondering is, if you set your TV to display at the "Native", "Just Scan", or whatever you call it... will it cause any distortion?

For example, if you're watching a 1080p movie on a 1080p set, how do you know if the image is being mapped pixel for pixel???

Just Scan is 1:1 pixel mapping for all samsung tvs
it wont cause any distortion
it will display exactly what is being put out by your bdplayer

also, for the OP
wat type of tv do u have?
some televisions later have firmware updates available to enable 1:1 pixel mapping modes and improve performance

i updated my tv's firmware to enable the just scan and it improves the tvs performance slightly, i love it

you can probably disable it in the service menu. try google or avsforum to see if anyone has the code to get it. if not this might be a link to the service manual which should have it:

https://www.completeservicemanuals.c...prod_1054.html

be careful in there though because you can mess your tv up if you play with the wrong settings.

good luck!
