I'd go with the Sony. I own both and LCD and an SXRD (Sony VPL-VW50) FP. I prefer the picture on the SXRD.

I have also been reading alot of feedback on both projectors and there seems to be alot of more serious problems with the Epson. For example, Focus issues, convergence issues, Iris noise issues.
Here is my question, does the difference in Contrast ratio and Lumens really matter? Shouldn't the Epson have better picture quality overall based on these specs? |

They are both fabulous projectors...
The Epson had some problems on launch...however, I think they are all fixed now. I purchased the 6500ub and love it. |

I experimented with LCD in the 60's but I'm over that now.
I would get the Sony. Sony - Known for the Worlds Best Televisions. Epson - Known for printers that are nearly as good as HP's. -Brian p.s. I actually bought a refurbished VW60 for the MSRP of the HW10. I would buy a refurbished or used VW60 over the HW10 because of the motorized focus. I like to be able to make all adjustments to my theater without having to wait or ask anyone to help and while you could adjust focus manually from the pj I find it's too simple to adjust focus with the remote standing closer to the screen.
