I downloaded the NIN album in HQ wav format 24bit/96kHz, but the only thing that plays it is my computer. I have an Oppo, but it nor the PS3 plays them natively. I'm thinking that I have to convert them to DVD-a format and then can play them on the Oppo. Is there a way to play them (in hd) on the PS3?

I downloaded a trial version of DVD Audio Solo from their website. It converted them to DVD audio files and burned to a dvd. Played back on my Oppo with no problems. No way to play them on the PS3 unless you downconvert them.

I made a DVD of them using my macbook that I played back on my PS3 and I don't believe they got downconverted.
I just used the graphics supplied for each song for the video. Still wish I liked NIN... I keep trying but can't see any value in thier stuff except for the soundtrack to Quake .... I liked that and haven't heard anything else they were involved in that I can listen too. EDIT - I can't remember where I put the disc but I bet the PS3 could tell me what the audio portion was and therefore confirm that I processed it right... maybe I'll look for my copy (hope I didn't throw it out.) Edited again- Found my copy ... the slip... I'm going to go see what the PS3 says the audio format is. -Brian Last edited by bhampton; 03-13-2009 at 10:11 PM. |

Hey,
Looks like I was incorrect... I guess I did downconvert the files. When I made the disc it didn't seem to re render so I thought it came out right but the PS3 claims it has 48Khz 1.5Mbs or something like that. Listening to it again though reminded me that I didn't care.... maybe someday... -Brian |

I'm not keen on The Slip either, but I did just acquire a copy of Pretty Hate Machine on vinyl and it is fantastic. I like everything up to With Teeth, the 5.1 DualDisc of that is 24/48 and an excellent disc altogether.
Year Zero and The Slip, I just can't get into them. The only way to play 24/96 2.0 files is to burn them as a DVD-Video, but I'm not aware of any software to do that. The Oppo plays DVD-A discs and so DVD Audio Solo will be creating the disc with the files in the AUDIO_TS folder. You should see if there are any other options if you must play them with the PS3, but the quality won't improve over the Oppo. |
