Hello. My first post. I have been looking around here a while and need some help. I have a Sony STR-DG920. I want to upgrade to 7.1. I have a Sony SS-V531H 5.1 system now. I was looking and found a good deal it think at Ciricuit City. A Polk RM510 system which has 2 RM7, 2 RM8, 1 RM8C and PSW110 subwoofer. I see alot of the system have a least 2 floor speakers. I was thinking of geting the RM510 and add some floor speakers to get 7.1. What do you guys think. Does this sound good to you? Or is there someting better.

What is your budget? And i wouldn't buy a HTIB system and just add floor speakers for fronts, you want to try to match at least the front 3 better yet 5 or all 7, also your center on the polk system will not be able to keep up with higher end floor speakers.
Start off with posting your budget you will get more help with this post. |

Edit: disregard this post. I didn't see that you were talking about speakers only till now.
http://www.onkyousa.com/model.cfm?m=...ss=Systems&p=i If you absolutely have to have 7.1. I bought a similar system and regret it. Trust me 7.1 is not all that with cheap speakers. I'd get a receiver WITH pre-outs and some good fronts with a matched center. Go 3.0 or 3.1 for a while and add to as you go. I went HTiB cheap when I first got in to the sound. It's ok for some but if you're here I doubt it'll be enough for you. Last edited by BluHavik; 02-21-2009 at 09:00 AM. |
