Default Why not start at Season 1 with Shows?

How come they release shows on blu-ray that don't start with Season one? For example, The Sopranos only has Season 6 available and Nip Tuck will be starting at Season 4. Why don't they start at Season 1 with these? Wouldn't that be better? I'm not buying any of these until I can watch them in order. Thanks to Weeds though for being smart about it and releasing them in order of seasons.

I agree 100% with ya 'kiddtigger'! Release them in order, or ALL AT THE SAME TIME! I'll never watch a season or series unless it's from the beginning.

Can't say i'll be purchasing any of the seasons out yet except for Weeds. I've heard some good things about this series, so it'll be interesting to see.

My guess is that they figure the fans would already have the prior seasons on standard DVD's so sales might not be all that great if they remastered them for blu-ray. If you check out the daily columns from the past couple of weeks over at thedigitalbits.com, they had a conference with Warner where they specifically talked about this, at least Warner's view on it.

It's not that obvious to me because I'm not going to buy any series unless they start at season 1, and I'm sure there are others like me.

Also with certain shows the more recent seasons could have been broadcast in hi def and older season might not have been so it should be less work to get them out there.

Then, why are we seeing most of the new releases which were out on standard DVD before?

Plus double-dipping on a BD that you already have on SD is alot less painful than already spending 60 for an SD season and then double-dipping for 80 on the bd version.

I agree with the OP. If they are going to release all of them eventually on BD - at least they should make an announcment stating such. It would make me feel better to know that. I don't want to own a show in half SD and half HD. Seems idiotic.

I will purchase Nip/Tuck on BD only because I have the previous seasons on SD and have seen them. I would not purchase it if I did not already own them but then again, I still am a bit leary on purchasing half/half.

Same reason we got MI3 before MI1 and 2. The studio wanted the release of the DVD to coincide with the release of the blu-ray. HBO announced plans for the season 6 release a long time ago. I hope seasons 1-5 come soon.

I watched the latest episode on Monday and am all caught up with only 3 episodes remaining. Could hardly believe my eyes during the first 10 mins of that latest one. Whoa.
