Default Concerts and Music Videos on BD; an interesting musical experience...

One of my favorite music DVDs is Eric Clapton's "One More Car One More Rider". I have played it about 20 times and I love the band, the music, and of course Eric's performance. A couple of months ago I bought "Toto Live in Amsterdam" on BD and I have played it a few times since. Yesterday, I put Clapton on for the first time since I bought my Blu-Ray setup. I was appalled at the terrible PQ. Audio was still OK but the pictures were awful. That's something that I hadn't noticed before. Then I put Toto on again. WOW! This is an awesome BD. Fantastic picture, awesome audio, and great music. And it was recorded in 2003. Now I can't wait for "Bruce Springsteen Live in Dublin". Recorded in 2006. Movies are good and I may watch a few 2-3 times but good quality concerts are timeless and I will watch them dozens of times. Bring out more BD concerts please.

I have:
Elvis Costello And The Imposters: Live In Memphis 2004 (Eagle Vision) - PQ and SQ both excellent. Music is very boring IMHO.
The Pat Metheny Group: The Way Up (Eagle Vision) - Also excellent PQ and SQ. Music more interesting than Elvis C IMHO.
Have Bruce Springsteen on order. Have Chris Botti on order.
Have The Last Waltz on DVD.
Not a U2 fan.
Not sure about NIN and Incubus.
Looks like the others are Japanese releases. Which would you recommend and where does one order them from?

Ta,

Ta,
The one sounds very interesting. Each song is at a different venue. Not your run of the mill concert movie. Check out the cast too.

Tony Bennett: An American Classic (Sony)
Quote:
In a bold re-invention of the form, each set piece was filmed as a small movie by an Academy Award-winning team, lead by director Rob Marshall (Memoirs Of A Geisha, Chicago). Seamlessly woven throughout the program will be introductions and narrative insights. The incredible event invites us to celebrate the life of who Frank Sinatra called "the greatest singer ever." As the special ends, Tony Bennett will take the empty stage, this time alone, and deliver his signature classic, "I Left My Heart In San Francisco."
The cast:
Tony Bennett, Christina Aguilera, Billy Crystal, K.D. Lang, Chris Botti, John Legend, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Juanes, Bruce Willis, Diana Krall, Elton John, Michael Buble, John Travolta, Stevie Wonder, Robert De Niro, Barbra Streisand, Eboni 'Chrystal' Adams, Nancy Anderson, Aliane Baquerot, Staci Flood, Michelle Johnston, Yvette Tucker, Scott Fowler, Lonnie Henderson, Brandon Henschel, Scott Hislop, Kevin Alexander Stea, Brian Mather, Tim Pingel

Some time ago I bought a DVD of Tony Bennett with kd lang. I watched about 50% of it and threw it away so I am very reluctant to buy another one by this crooner who was even then well past his use by date. Goodness knows what he's like now. kd lang is ok though.

Default Music videos on BD

My friend has told me about David Gilmore's upcoming BD from last Sept.'s show in the UK. I would like to know what other Music Videos are excellent that are coming out or currently out. I already have The Last Waltz and not wild about the master....

Bruce Springsteen just released his and NIN is on BD as well. Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds are set to release one soon. I'd like to see Rush and the Cure release some.

Nine Inch Nails: Beside You In Time is amazing. It got a 5 out of 5 if I remember correctly for both audio and video at highdefdigest. If you have a setup capable of lossless you'll lose your mind. It's cheap, too.

Default Music Blu-Rays...

I forgot where I saw it, but I heard David Gilmour (one of the former lead men of Pink Floyd) has a concert coming out in Sept. or Oct. I am pumped about that. Hopefully more of them like Clapton, Hendrix, Willie/Waylon and so on will be able to make the move to blu-ray. To me there is nothing better than a high quality concert with perfect picture and sound that you can watch over and over. Anyone agree?

Hey Jay

If you like rock/punk, you would probably like the Nince Inch Nails BD. It has excellent PQ and sound (Dolby TrueHD) is phenomenal. I popped it in to test the DTHD upgrade on my Sony player and it was truly rocking.

Hey T,
I agree...I find myself buying many more concerts than movies. There is just something about re-watching a concert that doesn't get "old".

I just got to thinking...you know what would be sweet? It would rock if MTV could put some of the "Unplugged" concerts on blu-ray. My wife would never get me off of the couch.

If you are interested in jazz at all, I can wholeheartedly recommend the Chris Botti concert BD for both sound and picture quality, both of which were absolutely fantastic.
