Default My first blu-ray setup!

Hai everyone, just registered with these forums. I've been browsing quite a bit but my new Sony BDU-X10S arrived and Gattaca blu-ray so I figured I better register and actually contribute! I'm a real film buff whose always been interested in going blu-ray and recently decided to take the plunge. I'm unemployed atm (yay for world economy) and don't have much money, but I was surprised to see just how cheap it was to turn my computer into a HD film player. Popped in my Sony drive and Windows 7 recognised it straight away and installed drivers for it. This drive comes with PowerDVD which seems ok, apart from it disables Aero which makes the lovely Windows 7 interface look a bit crappy, but aside from that its been fine. I'm yet to try gaming simultaneously - I have a dual-monitor setup - 22" + 20" - and often watch films while playing Supreme Commander. I have a very powerful computer so I'm not expecting to have problems watching a blu-ray and gaming at the same time! Heres my rig:

Q9450
P5K Premium
4GB DDR PC8500
9800GX2
Cosmos S case
HP 22" and Samsung 20" - both 1680x1050 resolution.

Cheers for the kind words buddy Yeah I hate being unemployed, I'm one of those vain men who likes to spend money on nice things so being broke kills me. However, blu-ray is no way as expensive as people think. Going to the cinema is so expensive in the UK, like £7, and when Transformers blu-ray is under £10, its really not too bad value. Film really keeps my head up when I got nothing to do all day.

I'm gonna be unemployed come next Sunday. My Circuit City is going down. It's gonna suck. But you are right. The blurays keep me happy most of the time.

What I like about films in general is their ability to suck you in and grip you; leaving you thinking well after the film has ended. Blurays give you even more by seeing the detail in the actor's faces and their expressions.
