Default Found Money $$$

Your walking to your car/walking your dog/checking your mailbox, (your choice ) when out of nowhere a $100 bill rests right next to your feet. You step on it so it doesn't blow away, pick it and put it right in your pocket. Lets just say that your first thought is, "What Blu-ray's am I going to get? For Free!" Sale or no sale you run right over to the nearest blu-ray retailer and buy???

My thought is I look for someone who lost it first. Something happened like this to me recently only it was a tad less than a 100 dollars.

Well, I wouldn't keep it. Someone lost that money and it's not right to keep it to me.

Okay thanks for playing Not to be rude or whatever, but what could you possibly do with $100 found with no one in sight? Let it blow away? (just trying to have a little fun here..it is make believe )

Give it to charity. 100 dollars can feed a lot of people. Especially in a recession when so many people are struggling to put food on the table.

and so you would... what?

there's no where sensible to leave a bill for whoever lost it, you know? I understand trying to do the right thing and I applaud you for it (I won't say I'm that good of a person) but there are times when there is -no way- to get it back to the owner.

in these cases... we party.

Generally people who lost money come retrace their steps to look for it and they always have a sad look on their face obviously. So, no, I wouldn't ask random people. Everyone would say yes. That would be worse than keeping it myself.

If I advertise that I found a hundred bucks, everyone and thier dog would would claim it was thiers. I would look around and see if anyone looks like they are searching for something they lost. If no one is around, I would put the money in a rainy day jar and when the X-Men trilogy comes out on Blu I would pick it up.

I go walking every day, early in the morning and then again after work. I found a $50 bill in the street. It was near an area with a bunch of bars. My first thought was some drunk guy probably lost this. It was really early in the morning, No one else was around, went right into my pocket. Another time I found a $10 bill again, I walk in places that I rarely see anyone else around, so it had probably been there a while. I found $4 wadded up and laying on a street corner and then another $1 bill on another day. I find misc. quarters, nickles, dimes and pennies every now and then. The coins go in my change jars until I get ready to cash them in. I don't think I have ever spent any of the money on BDs. I once read something on CNN about a family that goes out looking for lost money. They will pick up anything. Most people will not even bend over to pick up a penny. (Hey, its just more exercise to me....) These people had colleced over $1000! They do this for family fun and said once they reach $10,000 they were going to donate it to charity. $1000, really? I have been looking in the wrong places.

I have a funny story about finding a wallet one time... It was a teenagers wallet, no money was inside, so I don't know if someone else found it before I had, but there was a driver's license in it, so I figured, I would toss it into a mailbox when I walk by (the post office will deliver those, but I think they collect money from you to get it back) So, as I was walking, I spotted something that looked like a credit card, there was a magnetic stripe on the back. No, it wasn't a credit card, but a Hanna Montana fan club membership card. I thought , what the hell, and stuck the card inside the wallet. The wallet happened to belong to a 16 year old boy. I just wonder if he ever got it back and what he thought when he found that card in there.
