Default Plasma TV weight & TV stands

I really like the look of this TV stand, and I want to get it, but in the information it says it supports up to 95 lbs.

After doing VERY VERY little research (so it could be wrong) the 50" 800U model is about 100 lbs (99.something). While I'm not sure which television I'm going to get (either 58" 800U, 50" V series, 50" G Series, or 50" 85U) I would assume they'll all be around the same weight. This stand is on sale currently, and I REALLY want to get it... can someone explain to me about the TV weight system?

Basically what I'm wondering is HOW ACCURATE the 95 lb maximum weight on the stand? Is 96 lbs going to break it, or is it just a safety rating?

THANKS!

I suspect that something is very wrong with what is listed for the weight on the overview page. The specifications indicate a TV weight of 240 pounds. They also list the largest tube TV of 32". I think that my old 32" Panasonic Tau HD CRT weighs at least 150 pounds.

My guess is there should be no problem since the specs say 240 pounds; the overview must be in error because there is no way that the listed TVs could make that weight limitation for a 32" CRT screen TV.

I think you should be ok. I would call customer service in your town at BB and talk with them to see if it should be ok too. I got to know the manager and when I had any problems they went above and beyond trying to fix the situation. You should be ok.
