Default Polk RM 6750's vs My speakers

Just curious how the Sony speakers in my Family room sig compare to the Polk system. Better, worse, the same?

IMO its not an upgrade. I've heard the Polk's and they sound pretty good, but I own a pair of the the same Sony's that I use as surrounds and they are pretty good too. I've never been a fan of Sony speakers, but I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised when I purchased them. I only got them because I needed a pair of speakers to move back to a 7.1 setup and rears weren't important enough to me to spend $120 for another set of HK's and still have to buy stands. I was lucky to get these at Radio Shack on clearance for $29, and as it turns out they are much better than I expected. Sony's newer speakers are definitely better than some of their past offerings, and I would say that they are pretty much on par with Polk's entry level stuff. There are a lot of people in this forum who own some of Sony's newer towers and bookshelves and love them. For the money they are a good value.

They might be a little better, but it's not what I'd consider an upgrade either. Are you wanting to stay with a small system? I'd look at some of Energy's smaller bookshelf offerings, or Axiom, or Paradigm, or Mirage or Orb or something a little higher-end with better bass response. Polk has some decent enough bookshelves as well.

I would just avoid trading one satellite system for another.

I own the SSB1000 they sound very good for what they are, compared to the RM6750 I don't think it would much of an upgrade if any. I would think you would get better mids out of the sony at too.

No intention to change. I am just seeing how my speakers are. Seems like alot of people here recommend the Polk system. I paid about $300 for all my speakers so I think I did ok. I am not even using the surrounds. I don't want to run all that wire.
