Default Sony Financial Results for 08/09 and Predicted Sales for 09/10

http://www.edge-online.com/news/sony...-sales-in-fy09

Quote:
Sony says it expects to report increased PS3 and PSP sales for the current fiscal year.

During the year ended March 31, 2009, the company sold 14.11 million PS3s and 10.06 million PSPs.

For the current business year, those figures are expected to increase to 15 million and 13 million units respectively.

However, PS2 sales are forecast to decrease from 7.91 million to five million units during the same period.

Packaged game sales will likely see a marginal rise of around two million units to 240 million units, Sony said today.

The company also predicts that PlayStation Network revenues will triple this financial year.
Based on PS3 predictions going up by just 1 million I don't predict a price cut till at least Sep/Oct now. Maybe announcing a PS3Slim for then as well.

They have PS3 and PSP the wrong way around. PS3 is set to increase from 10.09m in the year just passed to 13m over the coming year. That indicates Sony have a price cut planned over the next financial year and it will include the holiday season but probably not the summer.

Basically it means SCE aren't going to announce a price-cut at E3, and it will more likely be around TGS.

Which basically concurs with what you were saying last year! You reckon it'll be PS3 Slim or just a price cut to clear out inventory ready for PS3 Slim or are the PS3 Slim pics online at the mo just rumour or speculation. I imagine you can't possible comment....

It would be cool to have a slim PS3, but as of right now I believe this is only speculation. But with E3 right around the corner I am sure something will emerge.

I reckon Sony will go for TGS. They'll be massive on Software at E3 and then follow that up with Hardware later in the summer.

It would be cool to have a PS3slim with *whisperBCwhisper*...that way I don't have to cling to my grandpa of a PS3 anymore...

Which we all pretty much had expected.

E3 is really shaping up to be very exciting.

Max, how accurate do you think those estimates are? Do they appear to be conservative to you based on your information?

Next time, Gadget.

However GAF (http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=361611)have got themselves all in a tizzy about this basically being confirmed because the chinese pictures were removed from the BBS they were posted on with the following note

We would like to ask you kindly remove the following pages of your pages on your website because the page contains MainTeK Computer Incorporation confidential document and photos, which were illegally released and posted on your website.
And it seem MainTek make PS3s. So a stealth confirmation? Anyway, as I had my 60GB nicked (bastards!) and now have an 80GB I'm fine for now. If it had b/c though....
