Hollywood is going to keep trying until they finally adapt a game to a good movie. Will this be the one?

Frank Pearce, VP of product development, revealed that a "World of Warcraft" movie is currently in development. "Legendary Pictures is currently trying to assign some names to write the screenplay and find someone to direct it, so it’s still really early in production," he said. "They want to make sure they get the right talent for those different parts, especially the screenwriting, because that's the foundation for the movie."

Will the new movie be completely CGI, in the vein of the games? "[The idea] has come up in discussions but it's not something we've really considered because it takes so long to generate just the brief amount of footage that we create for the game," Pearce explained. "That department's focus is creating the footage for the games to tell the story; it would be a huge undertaking and it's not really something that we're ready to do anytime soon."

I hate it when it's purely commercial driven. With the huge success of the game you can bet they are not thinking " hey let's create an original movie" nope, they are thinking, let's port the game on the big screen, money will come in for sure, it's almost mathematical considering the game's success.

How are they going to convince these kids to leave their basement and see the movie vs. downloading it? I don't think they thought their target audience through very well.

But I think it should be left as a computer game. Plus aren't there a lot of characters to find roles for.

bleh. I like WoW enough but come on. There are very very few games that could actually make good movies, and it seems there are even less writers and directors with the ability to do it.

this will suck.

they should make it full cgi....the cinematics in the game has better cgi than alot of movies.
