I was very happy with it, definitely an improvement from the dvd.

This just shipped from Deep Discount along with Saving Silverman. Good news that Mill Creek didn't mess it up. I don't think these transfers are that bad or on the level of Like Father, Like Son and The Freshman because there would be more complaining if that was the case.

I really wish there was a recall on both Mill Creek releases of Like Father, Like Son and The Freshman. They should destroy all copies of them and repress them with a proper transfer. They won't though.

Why would they? There's nothing erroneous or defective about the discs. Mill Creek licensed and released old masters that suck -- and chose to do so as well, because they watched these masters before releasing them, knowing full well what they were doing -- while Sony either produced or retained a newer remaster of Like Father Like Son for their own, much pricier disc. They're certainly not going to start licensing that remaster so another label can sell it, and also sell it for 1/2 the price.

You get what you pay for in this case.

Looks like my copy’s arriving tomorrow. I really hope it’s an improvement. The DVD looked pretty abysmal, even for SD, so it really isn’t a high bar even for MC to clear. Hard to believe we’re getting a BD at all. The DVD is so old that it’s a snap case.

The HDX digital stream and German Blu-Ray are certainly better than the DVD. Again, it looks like an older print that the master was sourced from, but it's much better than what we had.

Assuming Mill Creek didn't hire the same kid who worked on their Sony releases to do the encoding, it should be a solid upgrade.

If you could check when it arrives I would be really grateful. Can’t get it in the U.K. Mill Creek are usually pretty region free friendly

Also of note, the BD only has a 2.0 DTS-MA track. You’ll have to mux the DVD audio with the BD video if you want the previous 5.1 track.

While I have never refused to buy a movie because I don't like the cover art, it's disappointing this doesn't have the U.S. Theatrical poster on the cover. They're using the VHS box art, and it's rather bland.

That, I can't attest to. I don't have any way of determining whether the disc is region-free, since I own a region A player. Just going by what's on the box and the disc.

I had that poster on my wall when I was 16. My mom hated it. Maybe that's why I loved it so much.
